NARRATOR 1…

There was an ant, a butterfly, a mouse, a bird, a rabbit, a fox, and a frog.

THE ANT

One day, an ant got caught in the rain. ‘Where can I hide?’ it wondered. It saw a tiny mushroom sprouting from the ground in an open space and hid underneath it. It sat there waiting for the rain to stop. But the rain grew heavier and heavier.

THE BUTTERFLY

A wet butterfly crawled towards the mushroom. ‘Ant cousin, let me come inside to shelter from the rain. I'm so wet. I can't fly.’ ‘How can I let you in?’ said the ant. ‘There's barely enough room for one person.’ ‘It doesn't matter,’ said the butterfly. ‘It's better to be crowded than wet.’ The ant moved aside and made room for the butterfly.

MOUSE

The rain grew heavier. A mouse came running. ‘Let me get under the mushroom. I'm soaked to the bone.’ ‘How can we let you in? There's no more room here.’ ‘Come a little closer.’ They moved closer and let the mouse in. The rain poured down relentlessly.

SPARROW

A little sparrow hopped towards the mushroom, crying. ‘My feathers are soaked, my wings are so tired! Let me get under the mushroom to dry off and rest until the rain stops.’ ‘But there's no room here.’ ‘Please! Move over a little!’ They moved over, and there was enough room for the sparrow.

RABBIT

Then a rabbit hopped into the clearing and saw the mushroom. ‘Oh! Hide me!’ it cried. ‘Save me! A fox is chasing me!’ ‘Poor rabbit,’ said the ant. ‘Let's squeeze up a bit more and take it in.’

FOX

The moment they hid the rabbit, the fox came running. ‘Have you seen the rabbit? Which way did it go?’ he asked. ‘We haven't seen it.’ The fox approached and sniffed. "There's a rabbit smell around here. Isn't it hiding here?‘ ’Silly fox!‘ ’How could a rabbit get in here? Can't you see, there's no room?" The fox lifted its nose in the air, wagged its tail, and ran away.

NARRATOR 2

By then, the rain had stopped. The sun was peeking through the clouds.

And everyone emerged cheerfully and lively from under the mushroom. The ant looked at the one next to him. ‘How is this possible? At first, there was barely enough room for me under the mushroom, but in the end, we all managed to sit under it.’

FROG

‘Qua-ha-ha! Qua-ha-ha!’ someone laughed loudly behind them. They turned and saw a green frog sitting on top of the mushroom, looking at them. ‘Qua-ha-ha!’ said the frog, ‘Don't you know what happens to mushrooms in the rain?’ Can you guess what happens to mushrooms when it rains?

NARRATOR 1

They grow!!

After leaving Troy, Odysseus and his men sailed for many days.
One day, they reached the island of Aeolus, the god of the winds.

Aeolus welcomed Odysseus kindly and listened to his story.
He wanted to help him return home to Ithaca.

Aeolus gave Odysseus a magic bag made of oxhide.
Inside the bag were all the strong winds.
Only the gentle west wind was left free to guide the ship safely home.

Odysseus kept the bag very carefully and did not open it.
For many days, the ship sailed smoothly, and Ithaca was very close.

But Odysseus became tired and fell asleep.
His sailors thought the bag was full of gold and treasure.
While Odysseus was sleeping, they opened it.

Suddenly, all the winds escaped!
A terrible storm began, and the ship was blown far away from Ithaca.
The winds carried them back to the island of Aeolus.

Aeolus was angry and disappointed.
He believed that the gods did not want Odysseus to return home.
So he refused to help them again.

Sad and tired, Odysseus and his men left the island and continued their long journey.
