What do the words neutral and impartial mean to you? How do you define TRUTH? Is truth simple a construct? Is freedom of the press or freedom of speech, freedom of information, the publics right to know, affected by media ownership? Are news editorials truly independent? Is the press free and independent? How is press freedom defined? With the explosion of mass media news feeds, social media, blogs and vlogs from citizen journalists circumventing government internet walls and censorship, does the power of the press need to be controlled? One should also remember that Media is a business and commercial decisions are implicit in the control of media outlets and their content which may be designed for a specific audience demographic. Think about Fox News, RTE, CNN, the BBC and SKY as major international news broadcasters; Of English newspapers think about the way news is edited and presented by the Daily Mail, The Daily Mirror, The Guardian, Independent, The Sun or the Daily Telegraph. Can you rely on these news producers to present the truth, or do they have a hidden AGENDA - can they be TRUSTED are they RELIABLE?
