What lessons or messages do you think the author is trying to convey through the story?

I think one of the lessons Victor Kelleher is trying to tell, is that trust can be false. This is displayed multiple times when trust is brought up, it involves when the protagonist has to decide to betray or help his companions. As shown in page 41-42 he tells the dog to stay in this quote "Stay! he said aloud, mouthing the word rather than silently Calling to the animal". He commands the dog to stay Infront of a couple of shadowy figures so he can get away and leave it to die. Following the this action the dog dies as shown in this quote "dog...! There was no response".

Because he is still breaking down when ever he is asked to face his past. In addition this ruins his character because he hasn't changed significantly from page 1.

How did the book make you feel? Did it evoke any strong emotions or reactions?

I felt more annoyed than anything about the last couple chapters, because it didn't explain what caused the last days to happen or how Ben gained his abilities.

If you could ask the author one question, what would it be?

How and why Ben gained his abilities know as the Call, because it was just something he could do and had no reason behind it. In addition it just felt empty for having no reason behind his ability.
