Task 2: Research and discuss

Vocal Folds, Thyroid Cartilage, Cricoid Cartilage and Arytenoids are important within vocal production. 

Research and discuss how they work and how they should function HEALTHY in order to produce a healthy sound. 

Discussion and research questions:

What is a healthy voice?

How do the vocal folds create sound?

How do the vocal folds move?

How do the muscles surrounding the thyroid and cricoid cartilages affect the rest of the vocal function?

How do the arytenoids work?

Find answers to the following: 

What is the cause?

What can be the cure?

What can be the prevention?

Demonstrate consistent and effective breath control, which produces a healthy vocal sound with high-powered vocal qualities throughout 

and 

Show your ability to project vocal sound, consistently in a healthy and controlled way demonstrating flexibility, clear diction, vocal resonance and effective dynamic and phrasing choices.

You will create and present a comprehensive, holistic vocal warm up that exhibits your

understanding of appropriate warm up exercises with a pertinant link to your personal warm

up needs.

Your warm up will include exercises that explore the following:

· Release of unecessary tension (face/jaw/tongue and body)

· Developing healthy posture

· Breathing exercises

· Pitch exercises

· Tone exercises

· Exercises that demonstrate a smooth transition between ‘registers’

· Exercises that explore different vocal qualities

· Exercises that explore dynamic control

The recommended length of this warm-up should approximately be 30 minutes

At the end of the vocal warm up, you will perform song of your choice, demonstrating you have

effectively warmed up your body and voice.
