One of the city’s most popular legends is the story of the Golem of Prague. During the reign of Rudolf II, Rabbi Judah Loew created the golem to protect the Jewish quarter of the city and its citizens.

At this time the majority of Prague Jewish people were being attacked and they went about their days in fear, until the Golem came.

He was made of clay from the banks of the Vltava River.

Following a religious ritual the giant Golem was created, only to be awakened by special incantations in Hebrew spoken by his maker.

After an incantation the Golem would awake and he would do the biddings only of his maker, which included protecting the Jewish people in the Prague Ghetto.
Rabbi Loew placed the Hebrew word ‘emet’ (truth) on the Golem’s forehead. As the Golem grew stronger with each incantation he also grew increasingly violent and started killing people.
Some people says this was due to a broken heart, but no one will never know.

Rabbi Loew was then promised that violence against the Jewish population would come to an end if the Rabbi would destroy the massive scary Golem.
Rabbi Loew removed the letter ‘e’ from ‘emet’ changing the word ‘truth’ to ‘death’ , this ended the giant’s life.

The Golem now appears very rarely.

CECCO'S BRIDGE (ITALY)

Just outside the historic center of Ascoli Piceno, where the banks on the river Castellano have firm and close buttresses, is the famous Cecco's bridge; its construction is attributed, by a legend, to Cecco from Ascoli.
It dates back to the 1 st century B.C.
It was built using large blocks of travertine and stone; the bridge, connected to the Porta Maggiore area, thanks to its harmonious lines and proportions, reveals the typical characteristics of Roman monuments.
The most fascinating thing about this bridge is the medieval legend that concerns it... it was built by the poet and astrologer Cecco from Ascoli with the help of the devil in a single night!
Actually, the name Cecco almost certainly refers to Mastro Cecco Aprutino.
In 1349, Galeotto I Malatesta commissioned him to restructure this bridge due to the precarious conditions in which it was.
The obscure and fatal legend wants to attribute its realization to Cecco d'Ascoli and his supernatural powers because of the fame that the poet had since he was born. It seems, in fact, that even his birthplace is shrouded in an aura of mystery and esotericism.
It is said that his mother, who used to attend orgiastic parties in honor of the goddess Ancharia, gave birth to him right on the lawn where the sanctuary dedicated to the goddess was.
The poet and philosopher's interest in astrology and astronomy contributed to his fame as an alchemist and necromancer with magical powers and an expert in the occult sciences.
The bridge was built in 1269.
Whatever happened, Cecco's bridge, set in luxuriant vegetation, is still there, suspended between reality and legend, to teel us a long and tormented story.
