The American Dream is very difficult to reach for many groups due to their race and social status. The song talks about expectations for life but how something is always in the way. One of the lyrics in the song reads, "Workin' every day, now you bleedin' Through your cuticles. Passin' through a portal as you're. Sittin' in your cubicle." This part of Life is Beautiful talks about how you spend life working to reach a goal. Throughout the entire song, the artist speaks of dreams and hopes everyone has but can't achieve due to life circumstances. Another lyric that stands out is written, "They'll kill your little brother and They'll tell you he's a criminal." The artist mentions how unjust the system is in America. The song as a whole is a message of the difficulty to reach ones dreams.

This supports my thesis of how not everyone has a fair chance to reach their dream.  The story also says, "Upon arrival, however, immigrants with such expectations realize that life will be difficult for them; they also witness the struggles of other poor immigrants and poor citizens." The text touches on the idea that living in America requires money to survive, something that not everyone has. This further supports the idea of money is what achieves your goal in America. People of today struggle to be financially stable, meaning not everyone is equal on the path to the American Dream.
