I think that the civil war abolished slavery because this war was a fight between the north and south one of them wanting slavery while to others didn't and this lead the war being fought over freedom which the north won ending slavery because in a text it says "Civil War. Abolition refers to the movement to end slavery in the United States, and it had been growing for decades before the war began. Many abolitionists, people who fought to end slavery, believed that the Civil War was a chance to finally achieve their goal" which shoes that this war was fought over the freedom of enslaved people

According to https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/resource-library-slavery/, "It took the abolition movement, a civil war, and the ratification of the 13th amendment to end slavery, though these historical events did not end racism and descendants of enslaved people are still struggling with discrimination today."

I think the Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery because the fight for abolition didn't end until the war ended with the Union's victory and the Thirteenth Amendment was passed, which officially ended slavery in all of the United States. I know this because in passage 1, it states ,"The fight for abolition didn’t end with the war. After the Union’s victory, the Thirteenth Amendment was passed in 1865, officially ending slavery throughout the United States." This shows that it was the Thirteenth Amendment that actually ended slavery.
