It is similar to the book thief because the novel extols the power of storytelling in the face of tragedy. I really enjoy reading the book because the main character called Felix has amazing characteristics. His heart is full of hope whilst he goes through secretly living in an orphanage because his parents think it is the safest place for him during the war and helping a girl out of a fire. He lets his imagination play to make up stories for Zelda so she doesn't get as traumatized by other people getting shot in front of her eyes. However, at some point, Felix can't cope with the terror he sees and isn't the help Zelda needs. Eventually, he lands in a concentration camp in Poland because he decides to run away from the orphanage to find his parents. The book is set in Poland in World War 2 and he has to cope with Hitler trying to wipe out the Jews including the younger generation.
