Katniss embodied the views of self reliance as she traversed through a sick and twisted hunting game made by the people of the upper society in her world. She hunted and gathered and meticulously planned her way through a life she was thrown into with no warning at all, the Hunger Games. "The power which resides in him is new in nature, and
none but he knows what that is which he can do, nor does he know until he has tried." A quote from the excerpt "Self-Reliance" goes hand in hand with the trials and tribulations Katniss faced and how she handed them independently. She trusted her own bow and arrow skill and knowledge of the land to successfully survive.

"Don't wanna be bought
Don't wanna be sold
Don't wanna be talked down to
Don't wanna be owned" are the lyrics to the second verse which parallel to "Self-reliance is
its aversion. It loves not realities and creators, but names and customs." Self reliance does not like realities or creators... it does not want to be owned or sold.

Although he was incredibly influential during his time he was not understood by as many people in his time as he is now. Now we see he changed views of people and made some of the most legendary speeches and movements of all time which were not as recognized back then.
