Will the man escape in time?
This is from class notes.
- We collected data for experimenting for 12 periods/swings of pendulums of different lengths.
- Length is the only factor that affects the period of the pendulum.
- We put our data into desmos and found a model function for our data: f(x)=√x.
- We multiply the function by a valve to fit better (vertical) stretch.
- Our class function was F of X=14√x. This is the input (length). F(x) is the output (time).
- We want to find F(30)=14√30.
- Thus, our prisoner will live because the rat will chew threw the rope in 60 seconds and the pendulum will strike him in about 76.68 seconds.
