(why off spring can look like their parents). In my own words this term means what it says, if you have a certain nose this nose can be passed down to your kids and grandchildren etc.
Makes me think of genetics and DNA.

Like heredity this is the same if someone in your family has a certain nose it can be passed down until it leaves to gene pool some how.

If you have a white mom and a black dad chances are you're going to be black cause its a dominant trait. makes me think of mating dogs for certain reasons.
