Puerto Rico is a Hispanic country on a small island in the Caribbean. Being a Spanish speaking country, a lot of people also speak English. Puerto Rico has a population of about 3.2 million. The flag has a ton of reasonings behind its design. For example, the blue triangle symbolizes the sky and the ocean, also the white star represents Commonwealth. Lastly, the three sides of the triangle represent the three branches of the Commonwealth's republican government

Recently a category 2 hurricane went through Puerto Rico, named Hurricane Ernesto. This hurricane has done tons of damage including leaving over 700,000 without power. Also, in the Olympics, Puerto Rico finished with 2 bronze medals by two people named, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn and Sebastian Rivera.

Puerto Rico has many traditions and events every year. One of these traditions are the Three Kings Day parades that happen every January. This is a huge parade where the Three Kings from the East, Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar, are brought to the city's center (as shown in the picture above) with a message of peace and solidarity for all. There are many other events such as the Mask Festival, Coffee Festival, Macabeo Festival, and many others.

Puerto Rico has some amazing beaches being one of the many reasons why over 2 million tourists visit each year. However, it is not just the beaches but also El Castillo San Felipe del Morro, a U.S. military base during the two world wars which is many tourists' main reason to go visit Puerto Rico. If i were to visit Puerto Rico I would love to go see this south Vieques beach, called Mosquito Bay. This beach appears to be a normal beach, but at night organisms called dinoflagellates live in the water, so at night time when something disturbs the water the water starts to emit a soft blue glow.

Puerto Rico has very many diverse dishes from spicy to even sweet deserts. Puerto Rico's national dish is arroz con gandules. This dish is Puerto Rican rice with pigeon peas and is served with pernil, roasted pork, during festive times in the year. There also many other dishes that originate from Puerto Rico like mofongo, tostones, pasteles, tembleque, and coquito. One thing i would like to try is the tres leches, which is a light sponge cake that is soaked into three different kinds of milks, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk and cream or milk. It is sweet and often served with whipped cream.

Puerto Rican music has a pleasant blend of instruments and cultures, the music having a hint of Caribbean, African, Spanish and Taíno influence. There are many well know artists from Puerto Rico, being Daddy Yankee, Luis Fonsi, and Bad Bunny. Salsa is a well know style of dance that comes from Puerto Rico. Also, the Bomba, is a traditional Puerto Rican dance and style of music with African roots. I like Puerto Rico's music because there are so many different generes and it is also very energetic.

My favorite part of Puerto Rico is the beaches and places you can visit because they are beautiful sites to see. Also the weather is almost perfect. Other than that the food is also an amazing thing to try in Puerto Rico.

Living in Puerto Rico would be much cheaper than living in the United States. However the wages will be much lower as well. Other than that living in Puerto Rico would be amazing because of the amazing weather, great food, and nice beaches.
