Looking at the cause of Verrazzano’s voyages, I would compare this to The Moon Landing.

GLORY- Both the Moon Landing and Verrazzano’s voyages were proclaiming dominance for their countries. Verrazzano was asked by the King to explore North America for France, Verrazzano explored the east coast from Florida to Newfoundland and discovered New York Bay and Narragansett Bay. The King wanted to prove that France could keep up with Spain and Portugal in Exploration to maintain power. Similarly, the Moon Landing was used to prove US dominance in the “space race” against the Soviet Union. The wanted to be the first to explore the moon.

GOLD- On the other hand the Moon Landing wasn’t relatively looking for wealth, but on Verrazzano’s second voyage he wanted to get goods such as dyewood and bring it back to France. It could be used for many important purposes.

1. Verrazzano discovered the New York Harbor, Narragansett Bay, and Block Island, he helped France keep up with Spain and Portugal. New York Harbor is one of the most famous ports in America, creating a massive city in New York City. The Moon Landing was one of the biggest discoveries in the history of exploration, but it was very different from Verrazzano’s discoveries. First, the “New World” was inhabited by Native Americans, while the Moon was uninhabited. 2. Both events brought back important goods back. In Verrazzano’s case he brought back dyewood from Brazil that could be used for multiple different purposes. The astronauts from Apollo 11 and other missions brought back moon rocks and other architectural features. Although they were used for different purposes, moon rocks for research and dyewood to create furniture and weapons.

3. Verrazzano was the first French explorer, and was a pioneer for all of French Exploration, and Apollo 11 was the first mission to put a man on the moon, and pioneered space exploration for American and Russian astronauts.

Primary Source 1- Explorer "They go completely naked except that around their loins they wear skins of small animals like martens, with a narrow belt of grass around the body, to which they tie various tails of other animals which hang down to the knees; the rest of the body is bare, and so is the head. Some of them wear garlands of birds’ feathers. They are dark in color, not unlike the Ethiopians, with thick black hair, not very long, tied back behind the head like a small tail. As for the physique of these men, they are well proportioned, of medium height, a little taller than we are. They have broad chests, strong arms, and the legs and other parts of the body are well composed. There is nothing else, except that they tend to be rather broad in the face: but not all, for we saw many with angular faces. They have big black eyes, and an attentive and open look. They are not very strong, but they have a sharp cunning, and are agile and swift runners.” This quote shows the physical characteristics of Native Americans during Verrazzano’s time.
https://plus.google.com/111156072754301415020/posts/D1rpdwqRz1r

Primary Source 2- Opposite View

https://www.offthegridnews.com/lost-ways-found/survival-skills-native-americans/

LEFT BEHIND- In 1524, Giovanni da Verrazzano landed on the east coast of the current United States and Canada. While he was their he left behind for the Natives were guns. This changed Native American warfare. With the addition of guns the battles between two or more tribes became more modern, and any rival tribes that didn’t use guns were immediately taken over. Guns completely changed Native warfare with each other and eventually with the Europeans. Nowadays, Native Americans rarely get into conflict with others, but the the evolution of guns since the 1500s has changed immensely. Today, there are many different types of guns, unlike the musket and rifles during the 1500s. Guns have evolved, now guns are more than just weapons, the are a symbol of pride and freedom, and have physically evolved since then, with an increase in effectiveness and destruction.
TOOK- Verrazzano took dyewood and food such as corn and squash. The Natives taught the Europeans some knowledge about their land, which the Europeans took and incorporated into their society. Dyewood is a red colored wood found in Brazil, and they red dye found on the trees is used to dye clothes red colors. It was such a keep part of French trade because they could sell it at lower prices. Also, Europeans clothing was in black, white, yellow, gray, and brown before the discovery of dyewood, so they new red clothing was in high demand and the French profited off of their immense supply. Today, France is the fashion capital of the world, and dyewood had a very large impact on the clothing trends during that time giving France an edge in fashion on other countries during that time and still today.

Colonization has had many positive and negative effects, but just three that stand out are war, creation of new countries, and environmental effects. First is war, in the 1770s England colonized Eastern America. The colonists wanted to break away from English rule, which started the Revolutionary War. This was one of the most important wars in history as the greatest and most powerful army during that time period was defeated by colonists who fought for what they believed in, and ended the reign of a corrupt government. With the war a whole new country was created, The United States of America. This new country was the first ever democratic country, there was no single leader, it is lead by the citizens. On the other hand, there were negative effects, for one, the destruction of the environment. Animal extinction and deforestation are two common problems in the western world. The Passenger Pigeon used to make up 25-40% (there used to be 3-5 billion Passenger Pigeons) of all the bird population before European colonization of modern day North America. Now, the entire Passenger Pigeon Population has gone extinct. Additionally, deforestation has had a negative effect on the environment. The Amazon Rainforest is home 10 million different species of animals, and with the increase in tree chopping in the Amazon animals are losing their homes and protection which can lead to the demise of the greatest animal habitat on Earth.
