School Supplies for those in need! The idea behind this lesson set is not only collecting school supplies for those in need but tying in the book named after the project it allows us to discuss second and third order affects of our actions. I think this is even more pertinent after what we just went through here in ENC. Communities from across the country (and world) reached out to our school district to fill this simple need of school supplies.

Hypothetical Project: Problem- what are the highest need items in the post hurricane Onslow county? / Solving- Students could research through the various organizations what is in need, following this we could brainstorm (individually or group) which "needs" we can tackle and how. At the end of the lesson we would do a class vote on which plan we could attempt as a class for the month/year depending upon scope of the project.
