Walled compounds, raised pavilions, wooden columns and panelling, yellow glazed roof tiles, landscaped gardens, and a careful application of town planning and use of space are all notable features of the architecture of ancient China, with many of them still playing an important part in modern architecture across East Asia. Architects were influenced by ideas from India and the Buddhism which originated there, but the buildings of ancient China remained remarkably constant in fundamental appearance over the centuries, inspiring much of the architecture of other neighbouring East Asian states, especially in ancient Japan and Korea. Unfortunately, few ancient Chinese buildings survive today, but reconstructions can be made based on clay models, descriptions in contemporary texts, and depictions in art such as wall paintings and engraved bronze vessels.
How did sacrifices change and affect Aztecs in Social aspects during the Ancient times?

During the Ancient times religion affected the Aztecs Socially because they served the gods each day in different ways. One way of serving the gods were sacrifices. Humans were sacrificed for the gods because they needed to pay homage and to ask them for favors. Aztecs sacrificed because they wanted or they lost at something, like for example, games. Some ways of sacrifice were extracting the heart of somebody while he was alive, also rowing and gladiatorial sacrifice. We can say religion affects Aztecs because they were constantly having to sacrifice people and that affects socially because they had to lose family members and also affected because there were their beliefs.

Joaquin Balaresque and Maria Durruty 7-A

The flooding drowned lots of people and destroyed many houses. The river however also brought a gift, it left behind rich topsoil in the Huang Hu valley.
What was the effect Hinduism beliefs had over India’s social classes between 1500 B.C and 600 B.C

The Hinduism beliefs had a huge effect on their social classes, starting with karma. They believed that if they accomplished their duties that the Dharma required them they would have good karma that was going to bring them a good afterlife and reincarnate to an upper, class but they would reincarnate many times before getting to the afterlife with Braham, likewise bad karma came from not doing the duties that the Dharma stated and would cause them to reincarnate to a lower class. Hinduism believed that the caste system was organized and created by Brahma the god of creation in order to organize the people and have a better way of living. To finish Hinduism believed that each class was one part of the Brahma body: The Upper class was the Brahmins; they were priests, teachers and intellectuals. They were the head. Then came the Kshatriyas; these were the warriors and rulers, they were the arms. The third class was the Vaishyas; these were workers or common people, they were the thighs. At the bottom they were the Shudra; they did the menial jobs and were the feets of Brahma.

bibliography: Textbook world history Journey Across Time the early ages, https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-india-35650616

https://www.khanacademy.org/humanities/ap-art-history/south-east-se-asia/india-art/a/beliefs-of-hinduism

Fernanda Acuña, Emilia Parodi 7ºA

The Mayan society used the social pyramid, just like many other places. The pyramid was based upon 4 levels, in which you can identify by the quality of the clothing and the jewelry the people used. The 4 levels where: being the highest one, the kings and high priests, this was because they had a very important connection to all the religious beliefs, and they had a very big impact on their everyday life because everything they did was linked to their religion, from agriculture to any kind of activities, they were in charge to manage the government, the king usually wears animal skin which usually was jaguar’s fur, the ones of the most highest levels used a headdress that was made of lots of fancy feathers and other fancy items . After that there was the council of priests that was based upon the royal family, their role was to manage the Mayan society itself, they wore the same kind of clothing and jewelry as the kings. The next level would be the merchants and artisans, in comparison of the king and priest they usd more simple cloth so it could be more easier for them to work in and also because of the social level they were in. The last level is the slaves, which as you can imagine worked for the royal family or citizens with lots of money and they used very poor clothes.

Sources: https://www.reference.com/history/role-did-religion-play-mayan-life-85e4bfa6e54ceb28 https://www.wsfcs.k12.nc.us/cms/lib/NC01001395/Centricity/Domain/2250/Maya%20Social%20Str ucture.pdf https://www.historymuseum.ca/cmc/exhibitions/civil/maya/mmc09eng.html
Maite Medel y Matilde Venegas 7A

The Incas first started forming a civilization in the andes in the 12th century A.D. and throughout the years they expanded through Peru. According to myths the Incas were created by the god of sun, Inti. Who sent his kid Manco Capac to our planet. Manco landed in between 3 caves in the village of Paccari Tampu. He killed his brothers and led her sisters and followers to a fertile place where they settled in. The Inacas started to expand in the era of the fourth emperor, Mayta Capac but they didn’t truly become a powerful empire till the eighth emperor Viracocha Inca who started ruling in the early 15th century. source:https://www.history.com/topics/south-america/inca

Religion was a very important factor for the Aztec community, in the way it affected their whole life. This can be shown throughout all the time their civilization lived, but specifically in between 1250 A.D and 1325 A.D. This is since they arrived to the Valley of Mexico until they found the place they had searched for. An example of this is that they believed the god of the sun: Quetzalcoatl had a land saved for them, but they had to find it. This took them hundreds of years but they never gave up. Another good example is that to find their homeland they had to sacrifice a local princess which made her father really angry and had them go on the run. Finally in 1325 A.D, they found the land they had searched for eagerly. This started a civilization that their main point was to please their gods with sacrifice and celebrations

Javiera Navarrete and Sofía Recabarren 7A

Ancient india mayor contribute to today’s civilization is their religion hinduism, this religion is nowadays the 4th major religious group in the world, right behind the no religion group. Hinduism in ancient India was created when the Aryans concerned India and their beliefs mixed with the Indians beliefs and created hinduism. Hinduism is a polytheistic religion meaning it believes in many gods, Hindus believe that each god and goddesses are part of 1 universal spirit, this universal spirit is called bruhman. Hindus believe that every living thing has a soul and the goal of the soul is to be pure enough to become one with the bruhman that happens when you die. But one was not always pure enough to immediately connect with the bruhman, instead they were reborn depending on how they had behaved in their previous life; this is called reincarnation. If they had done good like: doing all their work and not breaking the law, they would be or either reborn in a higher caste ( castes were their social structure dividing the ancient India population being the Aryan priests on top ) or into a sacred animal like cows, but if they had lived a bad live in the way they acted like not doing their work and breaking the law they would likely to be reborn in a lower caste or into an dirty animal like flies. This was called karma. Aryans used this to stay in power and for making he native Indians work without complaint. Also this religion then led to the creation of buddhism, but hinduism did not go stinct like other things when they lead to something new like phones when a new comes out an older one stops being manufactured and instead many throw to the trash and after some time it becomes stinct.

Martin vera 7-A

Temples were decorated with paintings and filled with statues of gods and kings, in the belief that doing this served the gods, and showed love to the king (their pharaoh) and maintained the order of the universe. Egyptian architecture was thus greatly focused on religious buildings. The pharaoh of Egypt was seen as a semi-divine between people and had an important role because he dictated the architecture of the cities. One example would be the most famous egypt structure their pyramids. The pyramids were a substitute for the pharaohs and other important positions. They made a long process to preserve the body of the pharaoh as long as possible. And since they believed that they were semi-divine people built these giant structures, to show respect to them.

Lucas Baraqui/Nur Fau

The Hinduism beliefs had a huge effect on their social classes, starting with karma. They believed that if they accomplished their duties that the Dharma required them, they would have good karma that was going to bring them a good afterlife and reincarnation to an upper class but they would reincarnate many times before getting to the afterlife with Braham, likewise bad karma came from not doing the duties that the Dharma stated and would cause them to reincarnate to a lower class.

Mayans had a big influence on the world we live in nowadays because they developed the science of astrology, calendar systems and hieroglyphic writing, Mayans were sedentaries and also very known for their temples which some are still here and in position to be visited even after all these years. Their temples consisted of ceremonial architecture such as pyramids, temples and even observatories and they were even built without metal tools. They also had a lot of skills such as weaving, pottery and they created routes through jungles and swaps to create trading routes, with trading they could sell the things they created for things they needed. A fun fact is that the mayan writing system was made of 800 glyphs that could represent pictures and even sounds. Mayans wrote books called Codices which were folded like a accordeon and the pages were fig bark. The Spanish missionaries burned them all but four of these books, and there were hundreds of them before.

Luisa, Rose, Laura

The pyramids from Egypt are very important to the Egyptians because they were built when they were one of the richest countries in the world at that time. Also they were one of the most powerful civilizations in the world. They were built so that they could use them as tombs for important people in their city like for example they built them for their pharaohs and their queens. The pharaohs were the supreme leaders of the land, like kings or emperors. Also they were the religious leader, and they most of the time were seen as one of the gods. The pyramids of Giza were royal tombs for three different pharaohs, the northern and the oldest pyramid of the group a long time ago was built for a man called Khufu.
https://www.history.com/topics/ancient-history/the-egyptian-pyramids
https://www.britannica.com/topic/Pyramids-of-Giza
https://www.ducksters.com/history/ancient_egyptian_pharaohs.php

How did China's landscape affect China's history? Well, It made it hard for trade and communication with other civilizations, but Chinese civilizations grew along the rivers, whose fertile soil made farming easier. But the Silk road made the most part come together because it helped to generate trade and commerce between a number of different kingdoms and empires. This helped for ideas, culture, inventions, and unique products to spread across much of the settled world. One big advantage China had was its Natural barriers that allowed the Chinese civilisation to not have to worry about invaders and it also allowed them to create a strong country. For centuries China was almost completely isolated from the other centers of civilisation by mountains, hot deserts, steamy jungles and high flowing seas.

Alvaro and Angelita

Indians lived near two river valleys that provided fertile land. They were really compromised to their religion that was Hinduism, one of their many beliefs in this religion was reincarnation. Reincarnation is passing through many lives before going with Brahman (their god). This affected how Indian people lived and even treated other animals because they thought they were sacred. To have a better life in your next life you would have to do well your job. This applies to farmers, priests, men, woman, etc. The consequences of how a people lives are known as karma. If a person lived a bad life, say you didn't do well your job or duty, you might be reborn in a lower social class. But if you did well on your duty or job you might be rewarded by being reborn into a higher social class. They believed that by being happy with their role in life they would have a good life.
Antonia Flores and Sophie Ballentine

Egyptian religion was polytheystic, which means that they believed in more than one god. Pharaons were the rulers of ancient egypt civilization and were considered sons of gods. They were the connection between their people and their gods. Pharaons made rituals to maintain Ma'at which was the order of the cosmos and to repel Isfet which was the chaos and disorder. So then, how did Religion affect their daily lifestyle?
Egyptians used religion to explain the things that happened in their surroundings like the Nile flooding. They used religion to explain how the sun rises and sets down. They used religion and gods to explain every natural thing that happened.
Trough the times, their religion changed because many gods became more important and some started to be less important for the egyptian people.

Nicolas Horwitz
Domingo Fuenzalida
Karim Sarkis

The mayan economy was greatly based on food and agriculture. Farmers trade small quantities of their crops for clothes, food, tools and salt or other materials once or twice a week in a market that was commonly located in a plain or near a river. In the mayan economy there were mainly two types of goods, Subsistence Items, that are items used on a everyday basis like the ones stated before, and Prestige Items that are rare materials or art, for example things like Jade, gold, highly decorated poetry or ritual items. Leaders of different mayan city-states often give each other Prestige Items to form alliances while farmers and artisans trade Subsistence items to each other. The main aspect of mayan economy that has been preserved throughout time and it's still used today is that different mayan city-states traded abundant items in their territory to other city-states where those items were scarce and vice-versa, creating a steady trading system between those cities and their governors.

https://www.thoughtco.com/ancient-maya-economy-and-trade-2136168

Why did the Incas make different religious acts to satisfy their gods? The Incas were an empire, who conquered almost all america, and passed where nowadays is California. They had built an empire, where they had different roles and hierarchies. The least important were the farmer and slaves, then they commed the artisans and merchants, after that, it came the nobles, then they came the council priest, often part of the royal family, and the highest on the hierarchy society (pyramid) was the king or highest priest. Can you imagine why the priests made different religious acts to satisfy their gods? Well, we know the answer.---------- One of the religious acts the incas made to satisfy their gods was to sacrifice childrens (they sacrifice childrens because they thought their souls were more pure), because sacrifices were daily occurrences for the ritual of the sun’s appearance, They sacrifice children on special occasions, times of trouble like, earthquakes or a natural disasters. The Incas offered this so the gods give them what they need, no matter a good season of growing crops, or if they need sons, they make this as gifts or trades. They also sacrificed animals, not just humans, they made diverse ways to satisfy their gods by sarifices. - A second religious act to satisfy their gods the Incas made was to build temples, the make this because the temple cemented the. A very important temple the bulti was Corincha. The location of Coricancha within the city el cuzco was very important. Placed at the convergence of the four main highways and connected to the four districts of the hole empire, the temple cemented symbolic importance of the incan religions, uniting the divergent cultural practices that were observed in the vast territory controlled by the Incas. The Andes mountains, a large segment of mountains that travels around 4.500 miles on the west coast of south america , meant that Coricancha functioned as an enormous calendar. Shadows cast by stones placed on the foothills could be seen from the temple, marking out the solstice and equinoxes observed by the Incan empire.

The Inca empire was strictly based around various and different social classes, For example: slaves, farmers, rulers, priests and a lot of other social classes. As we already said; the social classes were extremely strict because generally, people stayed in the social class they were born in, so it was really hard to improve it ( but it was not impossible). The highest social class was the ruler, and they were generally ruled by the inca ancestors. The social system they followed was the social hierarchy system and according to this system there were 4 social levels: Sapa Inca, The Royalty, the Nobility and the Ayllu. The saca inca was the highest class and the one which consisted of the ruler. The royalty was one of the important classes. The nobility was less powerful and they were the governors of the rest of the population. The ayllus were people who owned a parcel and were self sustaining, meaning that they educated and fed their own children.

This drought triggered soil erosion during a period of deforestacion. In addition the Mayans were affected by deforestation which decreased precipitacion by 5-15% . Another way the Mayans were affected was by the most arid time in the last 2000 years this was what caused the mayan collapse .Another way that the tropical environment is that the Mayans live in a Tropical rainforest climate and there were managements of water resources.

One big advantege China had was its Natural barriers that allowed the Chinese civilisation to not have to worry about invaders and it also allowed them to create a strong country. For centuries China was almost completely isolated from the other centers of civilisation by mountains, hot deserts, steamy jungles and high flowing seas.

The script was composed of three types of sign logograms, representing words, phonograms, representing sounds, and determinatives, placed at the end of the word to help identify its meaning. This Hiergolpsy could communicate different types of information, numbers, the origin of their goods and different activities by the ruler of that time. Hieroglyphs are written in columns or in horizontal lines. They are generally read from right to left and from top to bottom. Words and names written in hieroglyphs were believed to have magical powers. For this reason, funeral texts and the names of the dead body were written on coffins and tomb walls.

This religion was getting more popular thanks to the architecture in China like the pots they made with some buddhism drawings.

Scientists discovered that ancient Egyptians would wet the land in front of the giant object they had to move to make it easier to slide. Also, our research said that they used 4500 years old ramps. In these ramps they carried the stones but it is still unknown how they cutted the stones. Also, they said that the egyptians left no record about how they build those structures, some people believe that it is something unnatural. The pyramids lasted from thirty to twenty years to be built and were made out of around two million rocks. Still, there are lots of doubts about how these people build these enormous structures.

Bibliography: https://www.history.com/news/ancient-egypt-pyramid-ramp-discovery

https://www.livescience.com/45285-how-egyptians-moved-pyramid-stones.html

Religious beliefs had a great impact on Aztecs architecture. Their architectural style demonstrated their connection to their higher power. One example would be in the ceremonial area, which was in the center of Tenochtitlan, here was “The Great Temple'' This was a temple that had two shrines at the top, these were created to honor their rain god “Tlaloc'' and the sun-war god “Huitzilopochtli.'' Additionally, they constructed this temple with a great height, this was because their sacrifices were made at the very top of this temple, as they considered it the place closest to their gods. Another example would be the Round pyramids, these were dedicated to one god, “Quetzalcoatl” (he represented the Wind). Also, they constructed pyramids like the Great Pyramid of Cholula" in which they held ritual sacrifices for their gods. All these temples and pyramids were used for sacrifices, religious schools, and religious festivals involving their whole community. This demonstrates that religious beliefs had a great impact on the Aztec’s lives, especially in their architecture.
