It is primarily used in Asian-style cuisine, but has recently become popular around the world. There are two basic types of cookers: there are those with manually controlled valves, and electric models with automatic controls. Electric models are also more convenient to have on hand at all times, as they can be used for rice, soup, and even making brown rice (if using the vapor system).
 
The zojirushi ns zcc10 is a really great device for people who are very interested in cooking, but aren't familiar with cooking a lot yet. It comes with recipes and visual guides on how to make various dishes in the device, as well as an explanation of how it works and how the machine can be used for other things.

  • This thing is awesome. I followed the basic directions and made brown rice for my first use. It came out perfect. I didn't rinse the rice, I didn't do anything special.I just dumped the rice and water in, pressed the button, and perfect brown rice resulted. Since then, I have made a lot more sushi rice and jasmine rice which also come out perfect. I like it sticky so I tend to add more than the recommended amount of water. I've steamed vegetables in it as well (with a stainless steamer placed inside - I know, I'm probably destroying the coating on the bowl) and that works flawlessly as well.
 
  • Very well designed, so happy with it! I am so pleased with this rice cooker, there was obviously quite a lot of thought put into it. Little things like a retractable cord, plastic handles on the pot so you can pick it up right after cooking, and a well-balanced handle (the cooker stays level when picked up by the handle).I highly recommend this to anyone looking to get a real rice cooker, either for the first time or as a replacement for an older one.

  • Small batches, versatility, excellent quality and post-sales service. The 10 cup cooker cooks small batches of rice (1 cup) just as well as the 5.5 cup model (previously owned). The footprint of the 10 cup model is only slightly larger than the 5.5 cup model so it doesn't require much extra counter or storage space so it has added versatility if you regularly cook small batches but occasionally require a large batch. Zojirushi produces quality products. My previous model lasted 10+ years of heavy use and became unusable due to an unfortunate drop. Zojirushi also offers excellent post-sales service and spare parts are readily available. Highest recommendation.

The Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 is a great device for people who want to learn how to cook different things, and an even greater machine for those who are already good at cooking but want to be able to make more things. It makes many different kinds of rice with ease and doesn't really require a lot of cleaning.
