Martin Luther Starts a Reformation by Lauren Clark

Martin Luther nailed his "95 theses" to the Roman Catholic Church. This caused an outrage and possible reformation. The theses in sum brought up two main beliefs-- that the bible is the main and only religious authority and that salvation comes from just faith, not good deeds and a good life lived.

The church kicked Luther out of the church because of his defiance and refusal to change his beliefs. Many left the church soon after Martin Luther too as his writings embarked protestant churches to form and a huge religious movement.

Luther's theses and other writings and pamphlets spread quickly throughout Europe and Rome. Ideas such as his had been formed before but never on such a large and public scale. This not only changed protestant christian's forever but the Catholic's too as their church later changed as well.

Local Resident Interview by Luke Whitney

Many of the local residents are all against Luther, while some are actually side with him. Luther nailing his 95 theses made a small disturbance, but some people think it was for a good reason. "Martin is making his point. I think this action was very necessary, because salvation can only be reached by faith."
Also, there are many people that are violently disagreeing with Luther. One says, "Luther is so wrong. This is not the right way of doing what you want or think is right." There are some out protesting to the streets against Luther's 95 theses as well.
It is proven that there is a big disagreeing on this subject. This story will either end in a good way, or very bad for Luther and his followers. With Luther continuing to state what he believes, people are thinking that he is a savior, and some to think he is a horrible human. The real question is, will Luther end as a hero, or a failure?

In researching and hearing about what exactly happened throughout this process started and wake left by Martin Luther. I've started to listen more seriously to what Luther is trying to tell us.

For years, centuries, we've listened and obeyed the Catholic Church opposed to listening to what was actually left for us in the bible. I really do believe that it is time to start listening to God instead of the just the Priests and Pope.

Nailing it to the door of the church might of been maybe unnecessary or extensive but if it wasn't we might not be even hearing about it now. So overall I think Martin was headed in the right direction in defying against the church.

Luther's 95 Theses by Luke Whitney

Luther made these 95 theses to state two main ideas. One is that the bible is the main authority of religion, and that humans can only reach salvation by faith, and not by good deeds, like stated earlier. He made these theses to make a statement to the Catholic Church.
One of the theses were that the Pope has no power over Purgatory. Purgatory is the place in between Heaven and Hades, where what is known as "Decision Day." This means that the Pope cannot control this because he is not God. This makes sense, because the Pope is only human.
Another one of the theses is that those who condemn the word of God to silence in the others, are enemies of Christ and of the Pope. This means that people who disapprove of the word of God are enemies to Christ and The Pope. Luther's theses are seen as very brutal, but they do make a point in the religious world.
