Aboriginals protected important and sacred water sources. Aboriginals connected seas, lagoons, lakes and rivers to their culture and stories.          <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1770, <mark>Captain James Cook </mark>claimed Australia for Britain. He told the King that no one lived there - that wasn't true, but in Britain you can only claim property if you have a house there. Of course, the <mark>Aboriginals</mark> only had huts; so this resulted in a BIG misunderstanding.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Diseases brought in by the British</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Diseases were brought in to Australia by convicts, animals and bugs, but most of them were brought in by the convicts. There was Scarlet fever, Typhus and smallpox. The Aboriginals had never experienced these diseases before, so they didn't have medicine which could fight the  lead to most of the Aboriginals dying out.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>On the 13th of May 1787, 11 ships set sail from Portsmouth in England, with Captain Arthur Philip in charge of the First Fleet. The point of going to Australia was for Britain to build new colonies - the jails were too full to fit any more convicts because people had to steal to survive because England's laws were harsh.</div>]]></description>
