Elizabeth (Lana) Woolridge Grant born June 21, 1985 to Robert and Patrica Grant in Manhattan, New York. She is the eldest of three, a younger brother Charlie and sister Caroline. Lana grew up in Lake placid and when she was fourteen years old, she was sent to a boarding school in Connecticut. At eighteen years old Lana moved to New York city to pursue her music career. At first she would go by "Lizzy Grant" and would do gigs at bars. This would get her recognized by a producer and she would later release music with little to no listeners. It wasn't until 2011 when she decided to change her name to " Lana Del Rey" that she released "Video Games" that her career took off.

"Cinnamon Girl" by Lana Del Ray is one of Lana's most popular songs. Although many people dislike the song I believe its meaning is both beautiful and relatable. This is not the first time Lana has spoken about troubled relationships. Another personal favorite song is "Ultraviolence" while that song speaks on physical violence "Cinnamon Girl" briefly speaks about the mental impact. Throughout Lana's career she has spoken about the ups and downs of a relationship, she isn't afraid to hit dark topics and help bring light to the situation.

In Lana Del Rays song " National Anthem" she references the glamour of American politics during the 50s. During that time JFK was president and she references him in her music video playing as Jackie Kennedy while rapper A$AP Rocky plays Jack Kennedy. In her song she mentions politics as corrupt and money hungry while mentioning other world leaders who fell from their position of power. Lana Del Ray inspiration for herself and music is the 50-70s by mentioning the politics stance at that time she brings awareness to what America truly is.

Throughout Lana Del Ray Career she has kept the style of "Americana". The style of Americana uses a lot of patterns and almost like a country coquette style. Early in Lana's career she kept the old Hollywood aesthetic with long curls heavy makeup. In later songs she transitions to what we know now with a more modern version of the 50s country styles. A big part of Lana Del Ray is her brand and no matter how Lana changes she still manages to keep her signature big hair and dark eye-shadow.

/Lana Del Ray was born in Manhattan, New York. Shortly later she moved to Lake placid and when she was 16 she moved to Connecticut to attend boarding school. Now even though New York city is known for its various artists Lana has never stated it is where grew up which influenced her but other artists. Now although she is a pop singer she has quoted that rapper "Eminem" has helped influence her, in an interview she stated " He was talking about his own life and he wasn't just rhyming over music for rhyme's sake…That made me think I could talk about the way things were instead of just making stupid music."
