These three quotes from source 8 highlight that women were expected to meet all of these expectations. In source 5, it states that you are expected to listen and obey your husband and your father in law, this is highlighted in the following quote; "you must care for them as your own father and mother. If he (father-in-law) has an order for you, listen and obey." Source 6 was written by a follower of Confucius. Confucianism does not believe that women are actually useful, making them treat women like disposable items. The source states that the greatest failure is that if you fail to produce sons, the quote "there are three unfilial acts: the greatest of these failures is the failure to produce sons.
Source 7 is going against all of these statements. Source 7 is questioning women's rights by using rhetorical questions. The source questions on why women do not have the same educational rights as men. This quote states this;
- "according to the rites, book learning begins at the age of eight and at the age of 15 one goes off to school. Why, however should this principle apply to boys and not to girls?"
