Source 7 shows that women didn't receive education by stating, "Yet only to teach men but not women..." Source 5 states: "You must care for them as your own father and mother" this means that women had to obey and listen to your husbands parents like it was her own parents. Source 7:"Yet only to teach men and not women this quote has defined that women were not educated not allowed to go to school even which was not equal or fair at all. Therefore, these sources has shown us that woman are treated cruely as they would have to listen to the rules and not educated as men were. While the men that are would be treated better because it was valuable to have a baby boy.

After close analysis of the two sources highlights that women had to follow specific rules in ancient Chinese society. "yet only to teach men and not to teach women " this quote shows that women couldn't get a real and proper education unlike men, men had all the education they needed but women had to stay in the house and do chores for the husbaand and his parents cause they were like kings and she was just a useless citizen. Women had to listen to everything that the husband and his parents said, women had no rite to education but men did they were the only one to have a rite to learning. Therefore in this source it shows that only men had a rite to education not women.

These sources have different perspectives on roles of women. In source 5 it states that "you must care for your father-in-law and mother-in-law as if it was your own father and mother". This quote means that you have to obey and listen to your husbands parents. In source 7 it states that " Yet only to teach men and not teach women". This quote means that people were only allowed to educate men and not women. These 2 quotes mean that women were treated as equally men were treated. Therefore, these two source have shown us that women are not getting educated and they are treated cruelly whereas men are getting educated and they are treated better.

Men controlled most of the family and had the most power. "You father in law and you mother in law are the heads of you husbands family ... You must care for them as your own father and mother.

After the strong analysis of the sources, it is clearly apparent that women in ancient china were expected to be formal household servants that had to be clean and obedient. This statement is backed up by this text written by Ban Zhao: 'To choose her words with care, to avoid vulgar language, to speak at appropriate times...' and the same is true for: 'To wash and scrub dirt and grime, to keep clothes and ornaments fresh and clean...'. All evidence shown here points to the illuminate fact that women were mistreated which was common place and considered right in ancient china, that is why Ban Zhao wrote this text. We can also infer from the text that disobedience was not an option and could lead to torture or even further mistreatment. Thus the carefully analysed text clearly states that women in ancient china were expected to be obedient household servants.

After carefully analysing these 4 sources, it is evident that women weren't as free as men were. In source eight, it is clearly highlighted that women weren't allowed to have their own ambitions. It states that women are expected to only sew and weave, keep clothes and ornaments clean, keep a womanly appearance, and to not use vulgar language. This is highlighted in these following quotes;
-"To wash and scrub dirt and grime, to keep clothes and ornaments fresh and clean, to wash the head and the body regularly, and to keep the person free from disgraceful filth may be called womanly apperance."
- "To choose her words with care, to avoid vulgar language..."
- "With whole hearted devotion to sew and weave, not to love gossip and silly laughter...
These three quotes from source 8 highlight that women were expected to meet all of these expectations. In source 5, it states that you are expected to listen and obey your husband and your father in law, this is highlighted in the following quote; "you must care for them as your own father and mother. If he (father-in-law) has an order for you, listen and obey." Source 6 was written by a follower of Confucius. Confucianism does not believe that women are actually useful, making them treat women like disposable items. The source states that the greatest failure is that if you fail to produce sons, the quote "there are three unfilial acts: the greatest of these failures is the failure to produce sons.
Source 7 is going against all of these statements. Source 7 is questioning women's rights by using rhetorical questions. The source questions on why women do not have the same educational rights as men. This quote states this;
- "according to the rites, book learning begins at the age of eight and at the age of 15 one goes off to school. Why, however should this principle apply to boys and not to girls?"
Therefore after critically analysing these sources, I have come to conclusion that women in Ancient China were treated like objects.

After a careful analysis of source 8, it is evident that women in ancient China were very restricted and had no rights. In source 8 is states that "to wash and scrub dirt and grime, to keep cloathes and ornaments fresh and clean" this statement shows that women's job was literally to do housework and make sure the family had its needs. In the source it also states that "to choose her words with are, to avoid vulgar language, to speak at appropriate times, and not to be offensive to others" this statement shows that women were highly restricted and were basically tamed people. For example the father might be like we have s guest coming tonight , you must clean the hold up wash my clothes and somewhere I in that time you must look pristine and must be polite anddo your jobs or else our family's social status won't be as high. This an example of what women were demanded to do and this shows how men were the leaders and incharge of the house as the women did the dirty work. Therefore women were inferior to men as they were treated like pets and they were just used to do the housework

In this source, it is evident that men had it easy. It states that Chinese women had to 'wash and scrub dirt and grime ... and to keep the person free from disgraceful filth', this was called 'a womanly appearance'. Women also had to 'avoid vulgar language' and 'speak at appropriate times'. These statements share the men's view of a women's appearance. They also share how the perfect the women would have had to of been. This oils have been hard for the women, as stepping out of line they would have been shamed upon. Therefore, ancient Chinese women had a difficult life of perfection, as shown throughout this source.

Careful analysis of this source evidently shows that women in ancient China lived brutal and boring lives. This source directly states " ... In cleanliness and order to prepare the wine and food for serving guests may be called womanly work." This means that women were expected to serve guests and not enjoy the company that had come to her house. "In cleanliness and order..." Meant that she had to be well presented and couldn't play outside or have fun. They were treated as if they were slaves and considered inferior to men just because they couldn't work in the fields. Sadly, this treatment and behaviour was considered to be normal and part of daily life so no woman could stand up against what was happening. Thus, careful analysis of this source, shows that women in ancient China were considered to be worthless and as a result, treated like slaves.

Quotes from the source that indicate that they were used domestic slaves are ' to speak at appropriate times, to not be offensive to others', ' to keep ornaments fresh and clean, to wash the head and bathe the body regularly', and ' cleanliness and order to prepare the wine and food for serving guests'. These quotes are what lead us to think that women are worthless slaves. These are also the things that in ancient China men wanted their wives to be like. This behaviour for women was normal, and if they wanted an education and rebelled against what they thought was normal, they were shamed. Therefore, careful analysis of this source indicates that women were treated as domestic slaves, and that they had to live up to the expectations of their husbands so they would be a good wife.

Careful analysis of the source clearly states that women were more like maids than actual respected wives. An example of this is in the first sentence of the whole paragraph where the author states that 'women have to avoid vulgar language, speak at appropriate times and not to be offensive to others may be called womanly speech.' This sentence proves that women were treated like slaves and maids. Another example is that in the last paragraph, it is stated that ' women had wholehearted devotion to sewing and weaving, not to gossipand silly laughter, in cleansliness an order and prepare the wine and food for serving guests may be called womanly work. This sent nice states that women were like servants to a king.Thus critical analysis of this source shows that women were treated poorly and unfairly throughout the home in which they live in.

Careful analysis of this source shows that women in ancient China had a rough role to live up to whether they were the best 'wife' or the polar opposite. "To wash and scrub dirt and grime, to keep clothes and ornaments fresh and clean, to wash the head and bathe the body regularly, and to keep the person free from disgraceful filth maybe called womanly appearance". This quote in this source represents what a good wife should do during this era and how this shows what the expectations were for ancient Chinese women during this time. Therefore, it is clear that women in ancient China had rough roles to live up to, including if they do a good job being a 'wife'.
