I was born in Maracaibo and my sisters too, however, when I was 2 years old my family and I moved to Paraguana (my mom's place of birth) and we lived with my grandmother a couple of years. When I was 6 we moved again to Maracaibo where I started my life. Now I'm 17 and I see myself as Latin, the culture and country where I am today really don't represent me, I don't feel like that, part of my identity is my native country, their language and dialects, their food and dances, and their people and lifestyles are what I am.

I grew up in a residential (villa/conjunto residencial), there were 62 small houses and also a park for kids, therefore, all the time the kids were outside playing, the adults were saying hi to their neighbors or making meetings with them at night to enjoy the weekends. Now where I live we never say hi to our neighbors, we never share time or the kids are playing outside.

When I was living in Venezuela the environment was different, we were a community, it felt like we all were a family, we didn't care about skin color or something likte that, we all are Venezuelans, we shared same traditions and lifestyle but when I came here I saw a small division between races. Groups are divided by culture and sometimes is uncomfortable when they try to mix. Latins group themselves together and make their own place to convive.

In The United States, high school is a place full of diversity, however, it also divides us in groups. I had one class where I was always trying to help but I was excluded just because my english wasn't good enough to communicate me with them. The teacher was remembering them always to incluide every student in the class but it never change. I had more experiences were I had to make a grupal assignment and the rest of the group were annoyed by knowing that they had to work with someone who doesn't speak English.

Living in the United States as a Latino means having to look for your place, experiencing racism in some places, and the same people who are trying to include you without knowing are following the typical stereotypes for Latinos. I feel comfortable being in the Hispanic group here, most of them are Mexicans, however, I don't feel comfortable with the Venezuelan community because of the kind of personality and mentality they bring here. I'm just 17 and have known that I'm Hispanic, and I feel like that.

In the Hispanic community being another sexuality than straight it's bad. The Hispanic LGBT community has to go over xenophobia and homophobia mostly for the same Hispanic community. Hispanics have their thoughts about homosexuality and other sexuality by religion or old principles. I'm pansexual and I have experienced homophobia by my own family, their bad comments about the community, how they look at them, and how they will put their own principles before everything. My family doesn't accept me, just my older sister because my parents keep thinking that I'm going to become what they think LGBT people are "obsessive, disoriented, and bad people". They care a lot about what people are going to say and they feel disappointed that "I'm not going to have a bright future".
