Justin Bieber: Love Yourself (2015)
In the music video for this song, the iPhone 6s, which had just recently come out, is used for a stylish shot of the two lead characters dancing. This is the only product placement in the video, bit it is a fairly strong use. The phones are kept on screen for 20 seconds in the middle of the video. This placement showcases the screen resolution of Apple's newest phone, and even includes two different colours of the phone to illustrate how you are able to customize its look. The most valuable part of the product placement; however, is simply its screen time. Having the product in the video for such a large portion could convince fans that Bieber himself is a fan of the phone, as he used it for this artistic piece. Rather than a conventional and obvious method of Bieber simply using the phone, this approach uses the phone artistically makes the product placement seem more authentic.

The product placement starts at 2:43.

Katelyn Turner DJ Khaled — “I’m the One” ft. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne

in this music video, the product placements are no secret. Most companies attempt to hide the brands that they are advertising but in this video, the product placements are vibrant left right and center. at 0:34 the first product placement is introduced for beats headphones. Dj Khaled shows them off with a clear shot of the products logo. Dj Khalid is notorious for advertising beats headphones so it's not to surprise that he wouldn't in his new hit bringing him loads of cash. After that placement, the video cuts to it being at the scene of a party. Here the cameraman has no shame in getting extreme close-ups of the labels of the drinks and the people at the party thoroughly enjoying them. Coincidence you many think? Not only are the bottles labels clear and visible but at one point Lil Wayne picks up a bottle to take a call on it label out and for a good 8 seconds the camera focuses only on the brand of the drink. Overall I think if celebrities are going to use product placements in their music video at least try to make it discrete and maybe people would be more interested in the content of the video and the products hidden in-between.

Within the first minute into the video we already see product placements, we see car's. Nissan, Honda, Audi, Mini Cooper etc and an Iphone at 50seconds. At 1:30 we see beats by dr.dre. The artists clearly didn't care that there product placement was very noticeable. Throughout the whole video we see different brands and products.

Amara Bernier: Rock and Roll- Avril Lavigne

*Song contains explicit language, product placement only occurs in first 15 seconds of video* This music video begins with very blatant product placement. Avril hears her phone ringing, and picks it up out of a glass of water to answer it. She does this while literally saying, "My new Sony phone is ringing". She picks it up out of water to show the phone is water proof, before the music starts so people will focus on it. Avril saying the product in the sentence makes it very unbelievable that she actually uses it outside of the video, and also makes the product placement very obvious. However, it is interesting to see how the phone still functions submerged in water and was most likely beneficial to Sony. The video has almost 9 million views, so many people saw what this product can do. This is most likely the most humorous product placement I have seen and definitely could have been incorporated with the video and theme a lot better, but was a good way for Sony to show what the product is capable of.

In this music video the company and products of Sony are presented quite often within the video. Which makes sense because she was signed to the Sony music company, so they advertised their products within and throughout her video. Within the video Britney's products were also displayed such as her putting on her own makeup forever eye shadow (0.48) and her radiance perfume.(0.40) The use of product placement here was no secret as some of the things they advertise to not make sense for properly correspond to the main ideas and themes of the music videos. This type of advertising is the same thing as selling out which is the sacrifice of artistic integrity for the sake of business.

The products being shown in this video, range from more hidden placements like D&G sunglasses Gaga wears in the beginning or the diet coca cola cans she wears in her hair, but, there are also more obvious product placements such as the guards beats by Dre computer, or the miracle whip and wonder bread used in the Kitchen scene.

The product placement in the music video Hotline bling is very obvious. Drake is known to like to show off his own brand “OVO” and many other brands in his music videos that clock over 1,000,000,000 views yes you heard me right one billion views. So as you could probably guess brands are fighting over who gets to sponsor his next video. But Drake being the guy he is he only lets his favorite brands get spots in the videos. Such as Timber Land, Air Jordan, Moncler, and H&M all seen in this video. But the the company to get the most heat from Drake's music video Hotline Bling was Moncler. In the first half of the video you can see Drake wearing a bright red Moncler Maya down puffer jacket this started a major winter fashion trend with the jackets selling out the day after the music video was dropped. This caused people who wanted to buy the jacket have to pay nearly double the price because they were so rare to find. In the end of the winter season Moncler claims to have made $85,000,000 off the jacket alone and says if it wasn't for Drake's music video this wouldn't of happened.

The product placement in the music video Leave The World Behind You it is not hard to know what they are trying to advertise. The music video looks more like a Volvo commercial than a music video. At the beginning of the music video, you can see right away that most of the video is going to be about Volvo. The music video was posted about five years ago and has over 4 million views. Throughout the music video, it shows the guy traveling with his Volvo to various places. The video shows different types of emotions and different types of atmospheres. The message of this video is like if you have a Volvo you can leave the world behind you. It shows that you can forget every problem you have and to just enjoy what you have which in this case is the Volvo. At the end of the video, fireworks are shown and he starts playing the piano. This video was like a tribute for the dance group Swedish House Mafia. As I was reading an article I saw that Volvo will be using some parts of the music video for their commercials.

Hayley Kiyoko- Feelings

In 'Feelings' one of the opening shots, and the only product I found that was product placement, were all the characters wearing the popular Beats headphones. All the background characters were wearing the headphones around their neck, logo in plain sight, for the whole video. Beats by Dre is a massively popular brand of most notably headphones, earbuds, and speakers. Their products can be found in many other music videos with popular artists and is also a very mainstream brand

Roy Tadros- Blessings by Lecrae

The product placement in Lecrae' s music video blessings was very obvious. Lecrae was promoting his merchandise for the music video. The merchandise was a Champion sweater and on the hoodie it said, "Blessings". The music video is all about how we are blessed if we have the smallest things in life. For example, if you have food on the table you are blessed. If you have supportive people in your life you are blessed. I like the video a lot because it teaches you to always be thankful no matter how much you have in life. There is always something you can be thankful for. Overall, it is a good video because it advertises the blessings sweater and there is no bad meanings in the song, rather it teaches you to appreciate the small things in life

Sarah Fazari: Cant keep my hands to myself by Selena Gomez

In the music video for Selena Gomez's song "Cant keep my hands to myself" we can see product placement in one of the scenes where she uses the Beats speaker to play music. She switches on an Apple Beats Pill+ speaker on the night stand, which is how the music video for Hands to Myself begins. This music video is actually sponsored by Apple and when a 30 second video was released as a sneak peak it ended with an ad by Apple offering a $60 Apple Music Gift Card with the purchase of select Beats products at the Apple Store.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMlcn-_jpWY
