"International applications shall be processed by the Patent and Trademark Office when acting as a Receiving Office,International Searching Authority, or International Preliminary Examining Authority, in accordance with the applicable provisions of the treaty, the Regulations, and this title."

This act shows the government's protection of patents and attempt to simplify the process of applying for a patent in different countries. This allows American industry to expand abroad and gives the opportunity to seek patent protection abroad. By providing the protection of one's ideas (allowing patents), encourages entrepreneurs to share their ideas. Having their creations protected allows entrepreneurs to have control over their design and allows themselves to profit over it rather than someone stealing the design and using it themselves. By creating an easier way to apply for patents abroad encourages entrepreneurs to expand their business and make profit in different countries. It would encourage smaller entrepreneurs and businesses to become engaged in expansion abroad. If American industry were to succeed in multiple countries due to global consumerism, the economy would strengthen.

"Copyright protection subsists, in accordance with this title [17 USCS Sects. 101 et seq.], in original works of authorship fixed in any tangible medium of expression, now known or later developed, from which they can be perceived, reproduced, or otherwise communicated, either directly or with the aid of a machine or device"

This act modified and became the basis of patent law. As the previous copyright act was from 1909, it was time for the act to be modified as new technology and artistic works (such as music or cartoons) was created in the 20th century. Compared to 1909, this new copyright act extended the works that can be copyright protected. Once again, by protecting one's work encourages entrepreneurs to share their works of art. Having their artwork protected allows entrepreneurs the freedom to choose how and by whom their work will be used in the future.
This would allow the creator to benefit from their own work rather than it being used without providing credit or recognition.

Steve Jobs is one of the most well-known entrepreneurs in the 20th century. His ideas and designs led to technological advances that has changed the world today.
The patent below is for Apple's Macintosh 128K, the original Macintosh and the first mass-produced personal computer including features such as a built-in screen and mouse and graphical user interface. The patent prevented anyone else from stealing Steve Jobs' work and design. This, along with many other patents, led to Apple becoming one of the biggest technology companies in the world. By the government protecting this entrepreneur’s ideas and designs showed how they supported his work and allowed Steve Job's to take risks knowing no one can legally take his work. In this case both the government and the entrepreneur got what they wanted. Due to Steve Jobs' new designs, citizens wanted the new technology creating a rise of consumerism (even into the 21st century) and great profit for Apple.

Trademarks are significant in the business world and the economy. The more you see or know a trademark, the more comfort you find in their product. One of the most important ways a business spreads their trademark is advertising. But without the government's protection of trademarks, they would be irrelevant (many companies would try to use the same trademark as successful businesses). A court case in 1920 occurred between Coco-Cola vs. Koke Co. of America. A trademark conflict arisen between the two companies. Coca-Cola expected to see similar company names but not trademarks targeting their product.
The government recognized the violation of trademark law and protected Coca-Cola's trademark as promised allowing the company to continue it's part in the American economy and consumerism today.
