A dystopia while similar to a utopia is a falsified charade giving the appearance of a utopia, with negative consequences: Partial Utopia, or a polar opposite of a utopia where everything is bad about it: Pure Dystopia. Examples of Partial Utopia: The Purge, The Matrix, Soylent Green. Examples of Pure Dystopia: Mad Max, Snow Piercer, Walking Dead. Most dystopias play off of moral philosophy, and what happens when we disregard it, or we don't require it in an alternate or similar world.

They mainly include:
Brash Actions(mass murder or war)
Manipulated Social Hierarchy or Society
Technological takeover/adaption (replacing empathy with logic)
