The Pottawatomie Massacre of 1856 was the murder of five pro-slavery men at different cabins along the banks of Pottawatomie creek. The Massacre happened because of removal of Lawrence by pro-slavery forces. This event led to the beginning of Bleeding Kansas which was a event that made new territories have to decide to be free or slave states. John Brown said "The killing had been committed in accordance to god's will" and that he wanted to "strike terror in the hearts of the pro-slavery people". This event connects the timeline together because this event made another event happen because of the Massacre in Pottawatomie, which led to "Bleeding Kansas" happen down the road in a few years.

The raid on Harper's ferry happened in 1859 and this event was the raid on Harper's Ferry which happened because they wanted to prepare for war because Harper's Ferry had a lot of weapons at the military base. The cause of raid on Harper's Ferry was to prepare a small group of followers in a attempt to start a slave insurrection. The effect of raid on Harper's Ferry was a start of a slave rebellion which caused the downfall of the economy and township surrounding Harper's Ferry. This event connects to the rest of my timeline by connecting the election of Lincoln which will eventually lead to the end of slavery.

The causes of compromise of 1850 would be slavery would be acquired in states won in Mexican war. The effects of the compromise of 1850 would be Texas would become slave state and other states would be but California would become free. The compromise created tension between North and South because of new fugitive state law. This compromise connects the timeline by allowing the balance between the North and South which at some point will lead to war between the two sides.
