The first day of the orientation, the first day full of curiosity and excitement, the day before the book fair begins, and the first day the supervisor took us to familiarize ourselves with the environment and explain to us the work we need to be responsible for, such as explaining the job responsibilities, working hours, adverse weather arrangements, and guiding us through signing the part-time contract. The final day of the Hong Kong Book Fair, a tiring yet fulfilling close, when we started packing up the remaining books into boxes as the exhibition wound down. Despite the exhaustion, we managed to complete the task quickly and efficiently. In the picture above, I’m seen carefully packing books into a box, ensuring everything is organized before the booth closes.

Personal reection

looking back on this whole thing, I was totally knackered by the end, but it felt so worth it. The long days really wore me out, but seeing everything come together at the end gave me this awesome sense of achievement. I got to meet a bunch of new mates along the way—chatting and joking around with them made it way more fun than I expected. Our supervisor was a legend, super chill and patient, always there to help us figure things out, even when we messed up a bit. I picked up heaps of stuff—like how to keep things organized, deal with customers, and work as a team—plus, it boosted my confidence big time. I also learned to roll with the punches and turn tough moments into chances to get better. Honestly, it’s been a proper eye-opener, and I reckon it’s shaped me a lot, both personally and for whatever’s next.

Having received the job specification for the Book Fair Promoter role from Sup Retail (Hong Kong) Limited in early May, I dedicated time to carefully prepare my application, ensuring it accurately reflected my relevant experience from the 2024 Hong Kong Book Fair and other exhibitions. Following the submission of my application form around mid-May, I then focused on preparing for the subsequent interview scheduled for the 16th of May.
