* Putting your hands on someone else is a serious business in a school setting. Restraint can be traumatic for those restrained, and for those restraining. 

* Restraint should be used only in cases of emergency, when there is "a substantial risk of serious bodily harm to the child or others.

* Your training as a professional educator "may qualify" you as "trained personnel". 

* Know the law, your school district's policy on restraint, and even your building policy.
