However the Soviet Union wanted to keep Germany weak, install pro communist government and extract heavy reputation so as to rebuild Soviet economy. Cracks began to appear in the Grand Alliance. Roosevelt had passed away in April 1945, with Vice-President Truman succeeding as President.
