All major Native American Tribes such as the Cherokee, Creek, Seminole, and the Choctaw people were mandated to leave their homes and to move to the west-- they were moved away from their homes so that the other American people (being the people of the United States) could take the land for their own pursuit of "Manifest Destiny." The Native Americans were forced to travel about 400 miles from their homes; people of all ages and states of health all had to move away, regardless of what they felt or thought. They were forced to travel nonstop through any climate-- even the hostile, cold weather of the Midwest in the Winter. Primary documents such as journals and letters dictated the horrid conditions of the forcible migration; paintings of the event also express the suffering and sadness of the people.

I think Andrew Jackson should be left on the $20 bill because he did more good for the U.S. than bad, protecting the U.S. from possible Native American attacks and creating the spoils system.

He was a racist who created a law that would destroy the entire Indian culture. By making them move, rejecting their wants to be U.S citizens and stay on their land, by setting them off into the unknown to fare on their own with little supplies. All of these are what made us rethink our decision, and not approve of Jackson on the $20 bill.
