The difference between the triangular trade and the Atlantic circuit was the fact that the triangular trade was mainly focus on the goods be traded and the merchandise being created. Slaves were only apart of it because it was Europeans export to the Americas so the work could be done. The Atlantic circuit however was almost solely focus on the trading sea routes of this time that were involved in the trade and the slaves. The trade depended on whether or not the other part of the trade flowed. This also added on to the slave trade as well. Overall the Atlantic circuit was the routes and slaves while the triangular trade was focus on the entire trading network.

The Atlantic Circuit focused on this “clockwise” network of trade going from Europe, to Africa, to the West Indies and back to Africa. In that trade, there was trade of goods such as arms from Europe to Africa, people from Africa to the West Indies, and raw materials from the West Indies such as sugar and tobacco. The triangular trade, however, focuses on the trade more specifically between Europe, Africa, and the New England colonies. This is more contributing to the idea of mercantilism than the Atlantic Circuit because it was England extracting as much natural resources as possible which was their whole purpose of the triangular trade. Meanwhile the purpose of the Atlantic Circuit was to bring back laborers (slaves) to gain profit from growing cash crops, mostly sugar.

The Triangular Trade was between the West Indies, Africa, and New England. It was a smaller part of the circuit and mainly focused on the slave trade. The goal was to capture slaves in Africa, put them on a ship to the West Indies, sell them, bring some to the colonies, and make a profit. Meanwhile, the Atlantic Circuit included Europe as well. The circuit was focused on the trade of raw materials, goods, and slaves and allowed the economy to thrive. So the Triangular Trade was part of the circuit and focused on the slave trade and the Atlantic Circuit connected the Americas, Europe, and Africa with the trade of all sorts of materials.
