I enjoy making rhymes and it's something that I find fun to do in my free time and this assignment let me showcase that. I learned about epithets, kennings, alliterations and more. Besides the school aspect to this I evolved my poetry skills that I had learned previously. I also learned how to channel my creative side through this assignment by going out of my way to make it interesting and not basic. I think this is the best piece of work I did this year because it's one of the only things I genuinely enjoyed so I feel like I put more effort. This assignment also represents me as well because of how important poetry has been in my life since poetry and music could go hand in hand together. I love to rap and rap is a form of poetry so choosing a piece of work which describes me as a person is what I tried to do. With that I didn't choose an essay or an official piece of writing because of all the restrictions that there are I always think I can improve it. With an essay or something you can always improve it and try to make it better but with this poem even if it had no real meaning, I think I did a good job to reach the requirements. Finally, I think that this assignment raised my confidence in my poetry because before this I didn't really like to say it in front of anyone but my friends liked it so it made me feel good. I think this line really affected me throughout high school because there were many days that I didn't like. Whether it was a bad test grade, not making a team, fights with friends, there was always something that could go wrong. I used to think that if something went wrong in my day it was the worst thing ever and I was very upset. But as I matured I realized that if you just had good days your definition of good would only increase. Before high school I defined a good day as having everything go my way or adventuring to far distant lands and doing crazy things. Don't get me wrong I still enjoy that but after experiencing so many bad days I find happiness in the smaller things. Watching my favorite show, talking to my close friends, or even just doing well on something at school could raise my spirits. I expected less and I received more and that was something that I learned.
