Elena intenta averiguar que es lo que pasa y por qué Stefan siempre la evita y descubre que es un vampiro y que ella le recuerda a una chica de la que estaba enamorado, que según él, murio por culpa de él y su hermano Damon, que es el asesino y hace creer a Stefan que fue su culpa, con su magia. Ahora Damon intenta enamorar a Elena y convertirla en vampiro, y ella, tendrá que elegir entre Stefan o Damon.
