They had a day when artists came from all over the world and painted on the buildings to help with the healing and rebuilding.

The second Earthquake was again the fault lines but this time it didn't break the surface.

Liquefaction is when the ground shakes and creates veins in which the water rises due to pressure and becomes visible.

This can happen several times.
The first is that the fault lines were very strong so when they broke they realised a great deal of energy causing mass destruction.
The second factor is that this earthquake was much quicker than others of this magnitude. This was caused by waves of energy combined which pain the quake particularly hard-hitting.
