As the catering sales manager of the Boca Lago Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida, Stephanie Zelko draws upon experience hospitality-industry sales and project and staff management. She also has a history of dedicated physical activity as a former ballet dancer and a gymnast. Today, Stephanie Zelko stays in shape by participating in boot-camp-style athletic training sessions.

Conducted by gyms and personal trainers as well as past and present military personnel, these sessions use intense interval training at various stations to build strength and increase cardiovascular fitness. Although the number of individual stations may vary, some experts recommend limiting these stations to just a few in order to avoid falling into easy patterns and to facilitate quality trainer/client interaction. No matter how limited in number, each station can incorporate multiple exercises from push-ups and bicep curls to agility ladder hops and overhead medicine ball lunges.

For those who would rather not seek the assistance of a training professional, Shape magazine recommends an at-home, 15-exercise cycle that requires only four pieces of essential equipment. Exercises included in this do-it-yourself boot camp workout include the crossover jump rope and the medicine ball crunch and catch.
