         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Description:</strong><br>Drug made from seed pods of poppy plants. Small doses of opiates can relieve pain and induce sleep. Larger doses can <br>cause a "high."<br><strong>Street names: </strong><br>There are many types of opium including opium and heroin. Opiates such as Codeine can be found in cough drops and over-the-counter pain killers.<br>Opium- big o, black stuff, hop, dover's powder.<br>Heroin- Dope, smack, thunder, hell dust, antifreeze.<br><strong>How the drug is commonly used:</strong><br>Opium- smoked or eaten.<br>Heroin- injected, smoked or snorted<br>Codeine- in forms of over-the-counter and prescription medications<br>Short term effects: <br>- "High"<br>- reduces pain<br>- nausea<br>- vomiting<br>- decreased allertness<br>- decreased respiration<br>Long term effects: <br>-addiction<br>- constipation<br>- infections from injecting (e.g. STIs)</div>]]></description>
