Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal histories are inextricably tied together through a history of colonization. Thus, to be Canadian is to embody a place within the Truth & Reconciliation process of national healing.

Pic 2 - I really like how you touch on place names as a way to connect across time to past before confederation to today!  I also love how stories and history and place and identity come together, here, and help create a web of "identity-in-action" through connection to the land.
 
Pic 3 - What an amazing place, where an ancient medicine wheel is not ancient in function or resonance for people living today! It's another living example of how land and people connect across time, and how such places reinforce who we are. I agree - helping foster our students' awareness of their connection to the land is very important to cultivating respect for that land and all it provides us.

I wonder if it would be effective to touch upon the different effects on both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities.

I think it is really interesting using an object to describe or symbolize identity. There are so many directions for a lesson on this to go. Your photo shows the complexity of identity through connecting to the land, stories and geography.

The connection of land and identity really stands out to me. So much of identity is held in the places we live and the natural objects around us. History helps to form identity and I like how you put this in connection with the land.

This photo contains so many wonderful elements that you have shared in all of your photos. I think it connects identity and citizenship through history, the land and culture. It is a good example of how connected all of these elements are.
