After reading the first chapter and watching the video about the "No Name Woman", I feel that the reason the family kept Maxine's aunt a secret was because ever since she was raped she was always seen as unclean and so after she killed herself, the family kept her past and life as silent as the woman were supposed to be. A man decided to take advanatge of her in secret, and when the consequences came, he just made the villagers attack the entire family, even when nobody was at fault.  I believe that Maxine thinks this way and she just decides to expose her to give a valid explanation on what was the most possible reason on why she was pregnant.
