Ladislav Čoček is a senior project manager working for the Grant Office at MUNI Headquarters. He worked as a pre- and post-award manager on EU funded projects (FP7, H2020, ESIF) for a regional development agency, private consultancy, and since 2013 MUNI. In 2016-2019 he was the Head of the Grant Office at CEITEC Masaryk University. Ladislav has been involved in several international knowledge sharing platforms in the area of research management, e.g. the Grants and Funding Strategies Working Group of EU-LIFE or Grants and Research Funding Focus Group of Alliance4Life. He is chairing the EUI TG of EARMA.

In EDUC we at Research Office were first not involved – but had to jump in shortly after implementation started, because there was a WP on research. Then, preparation of the H2020 SwafS project started and while we were not coordinating, my writing experience was useful. After the SwafS (EDUC-SHARE), we decided to take a lead on EEI project (EDUC-WIDE) and I was the main writer.

I am a pre-award Horizon Europe support; I keep looking for opportunities for EDUC and write R&I projects. But I also develop a training programme of research management under EDUC-WIDE.

I am looking for inspiration how to strengthen research dimension of alliances; and will be happy to share where we struggled (e.g. thematic matchmaking) and where we were successful (e.g. research infrastructures).

I joined FILMEU in 2023 and have been involved in the implementation of the Alliance’s projects FILMEU+, WIRE, and C-Accelerate since their very beginning. This experience has been both new and challenging for me, as most of my previous work was with national level projects typically implemented by only one or two institutions. I am also interested in understanding their practices for financing internal alliance initiatives, addressing situations where project funding is insufficient, and demonstrating own financial contributions according to GA requirements.

I am also expert member of the Research Strategy Group of Una Europa and involved in proposal preparation and other initiatives to do with making the alliance into a research community. I am a member of the EARMA TG for university alliances as well as the R&I group of FOREU4ALL.

I am looking forward to learning about the initiatives and ideas of different university alliances concerning their R&I dimension and discussing the shared challenges in this aspect.

I am a biochemist by training and have been working for more than 15 years as a project manager, mainly focused on European projects. Three years ago, I joined the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) as Director of Institutional Initiatives, with the mission of securing funding for the university’s strategic projects.

This role led me to the European Universities Initiative, where I contributed to two proposals. In 2024 our consortium was finally awarded funding.

I am Director of Institutional Initiatives at UOC and part of the OpenEU core management team. My role is to support the alliance’s implementation, particularly in legal and management issues, research-related actions, mobility grants, and calls. I also seek complementary funding to strengthen OpenEU projects and foster collaboration among partners and associated institutions.

I would like to learn how research has been integrated into other alliances, and what strategies are being used to promote collaboration among researchers, apply to competitive calls, and develop new projects. I am also very interested in the funding strategies of other alliances and their success in securing additional resources.

I am a senior advisor in the Department of Research, Innovation, and Library at the University of South-Eastern Norway. I am responsible for implementing and coordinating all tasks related to the field of research within the EDUC alliance, of which we are a member. I also lead a task focused on developing programs for the career development of young researchers and staff. Additionally, I hold responsibilities in the EDUC Wide project, where I am in charge of tasks related to career diversification.

I would like to hear how you are internally organized to deliver tasks related to research, as well as how you align your university's internal strategy for research and innovation with the alliance's strategy. Is the alliance strategy strongly integrated into your internal approach, or is it more of a separate initiative?
