I did my ethnography on the role that adults play in children team sports teams. But more specifically the role that the researcher had to play.

Why did I chose this.

I am an elementary education major so the way children's minds work is very interesting to me. I also knew that I wanted to write my essay on something I had interest in. I think this was a good decision although it was hard to find a good article but once I did find a good essay I actually was invested and wanted to read the article. This made this essay seem less of assessment I had to do and more of an interesting assent that I had personal opinions on.

Challenges

The first challenge that I face was finding an ethnographic study to do my essay on. Before this I had never done an essay of this type so learning to use this new resource was a challenge that I had to overcome. After I did figure out how to use google scholar I found it as a very useful resource because it made it much easier to find many different articles.

Weaknesses

The biggest weakness I had in this assignment was the writing portion. Writing is not my strongest point academically, I often spend too much time unnecessarily over explaining unneeded points. I also am very opinionated so I had to take my personal input out of my writing in-order to put have the essay be in 3rd person.

Strengths

The biggest strength I had in this assignment is what I already said, That I was actually interested in the topic I picked. Having real interest made the essay and reattach article less of a chore to do and I would find myself actually having interest and wanting to read and write more.

Over the course of writing the main resource I used was other peers to make sure that what I am writing made sense. Other than the peer review we used in class I also asked five different high point students to look over my essay throughout the process of writing. One of my peers said " I can tell you are truly interest in your topic" this was reassurance that I was on a good path.

Conclusion

Thought the process I think that I became a better writer and I found valuable resources that I can use for future projects.

If I was to give advice to someone who is about to start this project I would tell them to pick a topic that they actually want to read about. This is because picking a topic you actually have interest in makes an assessment less boring and you could actually have fun writing.
