Psychological and emotional problems of students during the pandemic

Dear RSYK Social Sciences High School
Unfortunately,we are facing the same problem too and we are aware that it is actually a global problem for all students. We have talked about it a lot with our teachers and we first got some help from our school's counseling service. We attended a few seminars about how to cope with the "psychological effects of the pandemic". It was implied that we first had to learn how to "socialize" again, both in school and life in general. Ofcourse, without trespassing any precautions or rules, we realized that organizing social events at school and taking part in them made us feel useful and active again. Fairs, exhibitions, short trips, several art or music projects are only some examples of what you could also do. Teachers should organize and encourage students to be more than only "students" in their classroom. Even the most simple activities experienced together with both classmates and teachers motivates to be active and eager in the lessons. For example, we are planning a daily trip to Erciyes- a skiing complex in Kayseri. We would also like to express that parents and teachers should "take it easy" on us and not put too much pressure on our academical achievements. Success will eventually come when we learn how to freely live and love our life again.

Dear İCSBL Social Sciences High School,

We have some solutions to your problem.

When we start learning, we realize that math is really hard, but we also understand that it can be improved as you study. It is important to teach students to love mathematics in the primary school because if they love it from the beginning, they will not be afraid of mathematics. When they start having fun doing math, they will see that it is not such a difficult lesson. We think one of the best solution is to express this lesson with symbols and pictures so that students can understand the lesson easily. Mathematics can be taught to primary school children with fun and educational games to break prejudices against mathematics. They can join in math camps and practice math with games during the holidays, and this way, children's prejudices about maths are broken. We must make mathematics a part of daily life. We should produce games and open courses on this subject.Another solution is to say that mathematics is easy and necessary. Seminars should be organized to convey the knowledge to the students.People who are good at mathematics can give speeches to our students.

In conclusion, By playing games and watching videos we can make our students like the lesson more, and improve their mathematical intelligence. Practice makes perfect in math. They will understand that mathematics is a lesson that gets better as the questions are solved and they like mathematics more. However, if mathematics is still difficult for a person, this is also very normal. Because not all people have advanced mathematical intelligence.
Best regards,
Tes-iş Adapazarı Anatolian High School team

Sudenaz K.

I found 2 solutions for this issue. I think it is necessary to teach mathematics to children with games in primary education, this way it feels like a game to them and they start to have fun and love it. In the second solution, we can make these math camps and practice math with games during the holidays, and this way, children's prejudices about math are broken. I hope I could help :)

Pelin Y.

We should help them learn that mathematics is not actually a difficult lesson, but a fun sport as you learn. We must make mathematics a part of daily life. We should produce games and open courses on this subject, I think it will be useful for students who can do mathematics to help students who cannot.i hope i can help.

Sude Y.

Students have the most difficulties in mathematics lessons because it is a numerical lesson and not everyone can be successful in this lesson, I think the best solution is to express this lesson with symbols and pictures so that students can understand the lesson, that is, to make the lesson fun and play. Another method is to say that mathematics is easy and necessary. Seminars should be organized to convey the knowledge to the students.

Rana C.

Actually, they need to know that math is not that hard, we just enlarge it in our head and we can overcome it if we want.At the same time, it is good that education is disciplined, organized and fun.

İrem P.

From the outside, mathematics seems like a difficult subject where prejudices can form. When we start learning, we realize that math is really hard, but we also understand that it can improve as you study. Mathematics can be taught to primary school children with fun tools and materials or entertaining videos to break prejudices against mathematics. However, if mathematics is still difficult for a person, this is also very normal. Because not all people have advanced mathematical intelligence. Maybe we should try our luck in a different field.

Zeynep Ç.

Mathematics may seem difficult and intimidating at first glance, but it's actually easier than you think. It may not be the same for everyone, but we know that as you work, it can evolve and become a game. Mathematics can be taught to primary school children with fun and educational games that will break prejudices against mathematics, visuals and videos that will improve mathematical intelligence. If it is still difficult for the student after such activities, it is absolutely natural and normal because not everyone is good at math.

Yunus Emre B.

I think we students have too much prejudice against mathematics. This prejudice is something we have lived through since primary school, I think it's because people who are older than us in the society denigrate mathematics to us and talk about the fun aspects of it, and the difficult aspects of it. The solution to this is that people who understand mathematics give speeches to our schools.

Yağmur A.

It is important to teach students to love mathematics in the primary school year because if they love it from the beginning, they will not be afraid of mathematics, they will have fun while doing mathematics. When they start having fun doing math, they will see that it is not such a difficult lesson.

Oğuzhan Y.

I think that mathematics is one of the courses that should be taken as a basis. While teaching mathematics, the focus should be primarily on finding the main problem and finding a solution to it. In this way, their prejudices will be broken and they will enjoy mathematics. In this way, a solution can be found.

Yusuf Kerem

I think people approach math with too much bias. The reason for this may be that numerical lessons are difficult and boring for people. This bias can disappear if we make this lesson more fun. By playing games and watching videos that can improve mathematical intelligence, we can make students like the lesson more, and they understand that mathematics is a lesson that gets better as the questions are solved and they like mathematics more.

First of all, I believe that school uniforms should also be updated to the new trends, just as new methods and teaching tools are being tried. I'll give you some pieces of advice:

1.The T-shirt could be customized, either with a breastpin, with a scarf, with a tie and girls could be encouraged to wear skirts tailored to a favorite type.

2.The T-shirt could be replaced with a hoodie or a cardigan in winter.

3. Keep the school logo on the front of the T-shirt, but give the students the chance to print the picture of their favorite hero or superhero on the back of their T-shirt. Thus, they will be some superheroes who will love their school uniform.

4. Allow boys to wear jeans not necessarily trousers. They will feel more comfortable and more trendy.

5. Let the students' creativity give a special touch to the school uniform, to impose each of them a special style, but keep the school logo and the specific, traditional color, blue.

1. Teachers should take into consideration this situation when creating their lessons. Therefore, they should you use interactive activities, websites, games, apps.
2. Organise "happy digital day" when students can use their phones more, they can be encouraged to present their works, homework, projects using their phones
3. Students need to become aware of the danger of using their phones while the teacher is explaining the lesson. The school counselor could be involved in activities meant to help with this issue.
