Thomas Paine was born January 29, 1737 in Thetford, United Kingdom.
He continued to live there as he grew up there and went to Thetford Grammar School for his education.
He was a political philosopher for his occupation.Thomas Paine's Big ideas were promoted reason, and free thought and he argued against institutionalized religion. Some of his popular publications were Age of Reason, Common Sense, and Rights of man. Thomas Paine's big influences on U.S. Government were that he did not like monarchy because he really felt that a person was born with a right to vote or run for president. Another influence was that he wrote a Pamphlet called common sense which supports freedom from Britain. He felt that a group of people could leave a superior group with the right leadership. Thomas proposed the representative system for the colonies government. This was an anti-monarchy type of government that featured the public voting for people to make the law, this is like a democracy.

I believe my philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau would agree that every man is born with the right to vote or run for president. He believed that people only listen to laws when they get a chance to decide on them. Thomas Paine believed that people should get to vote, just like Jean-Jacques Rousseau thought that the people ultimately hold the right to power. Voting is a way people get to decide on presidents or rulers, and voting gives power to the people.
-Ella Palmer
