However, the Caribbean region has much more to offer. There has been an ongoing debate which states that  "In today's world of globalization, do efforts at Caribbean integration still have any relevance for Caribbean society, or should we all aspire to be citizens of the global village?" The answer to this question is simple, the Caribbean region should practice Caribbean integration for the sake of Caribbean development. Once Caribbean development has been successfully been achieved, they should then aspire to be citizens of the global village.The global village refers to the entire world coming together to achieve globalization (countries operating on an international scale) and it is done primarily through the use of technology.  There are a variety of ways the Caribbean can set forth to achieve Caribbean development and we're going to explore them.

It would be of the utmost importance to help these countries like Venezuela, Dominica and Haiti for example to get on their feet. Venezuela has been a victim of the mismanagement of their resource and as a result they are now in economic turmoil. If Caribbean countries could come together to at least get them on their feet, it would lead to the development of the Caribbean as a whole by helping to rebuild their economies, they would be on a somewhat level playing field and can therefore add be able to add to Caribbean development. How? As aforementioned, the Caribbean has so much to offer. We have sun, sand, sea, coral reefs (Buccoo reef in Tobago), diverse cultures and heritage, many festivals as well, such as Carnival in Trinidad which has been coined the "greatest show on Earth". To employ the use of tourism through Caribbean integration, we must help promote what our region has to offer, this can be done with the use of technology such as using the internet to market ourselves on social media platforms. This would help bring in foreign revenue which can go toward building our economies. We should also partake in each others festival to help contribute financially as well as show support. These go hand in hand to achieve Caribbean development.

A region that fights against harming the environment through methods such as eradicating pollution are showing that they are on the right track to intercept the global village. Coming together to create a cleaner, greener environment will keep the region alive. 
As islands, we are completely surrounded by sea and it's our responsibility to help keep it clean. Caribbean regions can aim to stop people from dumping litter in the sea by enforcing laws which penalize and incriminate people who chose to embark on such atrocious behavior. This will help keep the sea clean and marine life alive and healthy. Plastic pollution destroys marine life and Caribbean countries coming together to eliminate that is better for everyone (humans and marine life). Also, as far as oil spills in the sea goes, the Caribbean can come together and put legislatures in place, as well as, have seminars to inform off shore workers about steps they can take to reduce spills. Preventative methods can be put in place to reduce such occurrences. Land pollution can also be eliminated through similar methods such as laws to fine and incriminate offenders, as well as, a Caribbean wide campaign can be launched to eradicate land pollution. The Caribbean can embark on the project of lobbying to get more Caribbean countries to join the Commonwealth. This would allow the region as a whole to get stronger and all the Caribbean countries would be able to benefit from each other. This in turn would result in the fortification of the economies of Caribbean countries and therefore lead the the development of the Caribbean region as a whole.

To intercept the global village  the Caribbean region needs to embark on some of the same methods they used to better themselves, they just need to do it on a global scale. Through all of the methods discussed they would able to operate as countries which belong in the global village. The whole idea of the global village is for countries of the world to come together and their interactions can be fortified with the use of media technologies. These technologies include video conferencing, social media platforms and emailing to name a few. The propagation of these technologies allows for countries to come together and the Caribbean can successfully be a part of it, if they get themselves to the proper standard needed to intercept it.
