Because his health was unstable, his mother home-schooled him through fourth grade. During August's first year at Beecher Prep, he has many new positive and negative experiences.

For this assignment, I decided to use Padlet to create a multi-media presentation. I wanted to choose a program that I was unfamiliar with to learn a new tool. I will say I was not comfortable using Padlet at first. I did not know how to make posts and include the information I wanted to. I found a tutorial video online that was helpful showing how to navigate the program. Now I feel I can use it with my students in many ways. It can be used as a discussion board, where I pose a question and students add their responses and can interact with each other. It also can be used as a tool where students write a book review after each book we read. The fact that it archives the different posts allows us to go back and reference books we read in the past. Padlet can be used to address many common core standards such as create, edit, and format text on a slide, create a series of slides and organize them to present research or convey an idea, and watch online videos and use play, pause, rewind and forward buttons while taking notes. In order to use this with my students, I would do more research first in learning about all the available tools in the program. The most important part is knowing how to input information through either Google Drive, uploading an image/document, or pasting a url. I think this is something my students would enjoy as a hands-on approach to their learning.
