La toilette est faite en respectant, autant que faire se
peut, l’intimité du malade. Les bouts d’ongles qui ont
été coupés sont tous jetés aux WC. Outre les ablutions
dictées par un souci d’hygiène corporelle nous sommes
amenés à diverses occasions, au cours de la journée, à
nous laver les mains : avant de manger du pain, après un
certain temps de sommeil, avant de prier ou après avoir
fait ses besoins. C’est pour effectuer ces ablutions qu’une
personne alitée aura besoin, près d’elle, d’une bassine et
