Participation in groups, checklist for students within groups. Rubrics can be used for any subject/topic.<br><strong><em>Benefits as Teachers: </em></strong>Keeps us informed&nbsp;on student status. Preparedness of life skills for students, takes a load off of us for grading. Have students grade themselves by using rubrics. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Assessments determine whether or not the goals are being met.&nbsp; Assessments also provide diagnostic feedback, evaluate progress, motivates performance, helps educators set standards, and relates to students' progress.&nbsp; Through assessment, students should interpret and apply the information that they receive. The two types of assessment include formative and summative.&nbsp; State mandated standardized tests and alternative assessments are most common. &nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Rubrics provide consistency when evaluating student work.&nbsp; They also are used from initiation of the project to the end to hold students and teachers accountable. Rubrics give students the opportunity to self-assess and reflect and help teachers' authentically monitor students' learning process.&nbsp; Team rubrics let each team member know what is expected from them, and project rubrics list requirements for completion of a project based assignment.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Assessment provides diagnostic feedback. It sets standards and evaluates progress. Assessment also motivates performance and determines whether or not goals are being met. Assessments guide teaching.<br><br>Types of Assessment: There are many ways to assess students; some of the summative assessments include standardized tests, projects, and essays. Some formative assessments include observations, blackboard discussions, and checklists.&nbsp;<br><br>Importance of Rubrics: Rubrics provide consistency in evaluating school work and a measurement system for specific tasks. Rubrics are also important because it lets students know exactly what is expected of them and students can do self-assessment with rubrics. There are team and project rubrics.&nbsp;<br><br>Assessment as a Classroom Teacher: In the classroom some assessments that will be used include discussions, presentations, projects, observations, and different games (i.e. Kahoot). </div>]]></description>

Some of the biggest affects assessment has on students are grades, placements, advancement, instructional needs and curriculum. When assessment is effective is provides diagnostic feedback, helps teachers set standards, evaluates progress, and motivates student performance. Rubrics are very effective as they provide students with the tools and materials needed to complete a project so that you as the teacher do not have to hold there hand every step of the way. Rubrics are a very good tool to keep students focused and promotes student or group independence.
