Living up to such standard, Xuân Diệu – also known as the king of Vietnamese Love poems, with his entire life devoted to creating masterpieces of poems, has earned his place in my heart, forever 

-          A well-known poet during Vietnamese New Poetry revolutionary  

-          One of the pioneers in the revolution, most acknowledged by all Vietnamese poetry lovers for his astounding, distinctive, eccentric writing style à not only role model to our generation but also left us an enormous heritage – his ideology of love and life through his poems

-          Know him through a book called “Vietnamese Poets” by Hoai Thanh and Hoai Chan

-          He joined the army and worked as movement artist to encourage our soldier’s spirit

-          He is my idol for a variety of reasons: 

+ Usage of words, which is truthful, romantic, written for heartbroken people and ones filled with love

+ His works of art inspired hundreds of latter poets

+ Admire: His combination between his affection of modern French poems and his uniqueness in writing

+ writer of/for the youth: he wrote ab the idea of love, happiness, life, …

+ on top of all, he didn’t hesitate to erase the cliché pattern in Vietnamese traditional poetry and brought to our poetry this new, exhilarating breeze and inspired us to live to the fullest of live. 

To sum up, he’s my favorite poet of all time 

 

-       She is a Vietnamese youtuber, blogger, podcaster and currently education professor based in the USA.

-       I first knew this fantastic woman when my friend gave me a link to her podcast and told me that I should listen to it. Immediately, I was captivated. I found the story was so impactful and meaningful. Right after that, I listened to some other podcast and read more blog that she wrote.

-       As I know, Chi Nguyễn became an international student of an university in Pennsylvania after winning a scholarship for PhD. Before traveling to the USA she lived in Hanoi and studied here.

The reason why I like her podcast, her blog and herself as well is just because I find this young woman amazing. She became professor at very young age, that means she must be so determined , hard-working, and talented. And I really admire that. Moreover, her podcast, blog that she posted on the social media were touching and relatable.

-          Circumstance: toxic boyfriend, filled with red flags; controlling, overly possessive over my friend 

-          She consulted in me about her states of mind around him: often insecure, bored, not being herself or feel comfortable when he’s around 

-          The advice: Self-reflective opinions; reconsidering and re-evaluating her choices; putting herself first à break up 

-          I’ve been in such toxic relationship with my old best friend; in such situation, the victim is usually not self-aware of possibilities that might have bad impact on themselves; therefore, its vital that outsiders who can judge the situation wisely should give them sincere advice. 

 

Must-have item: Love and free spirit 

-          Love helps to improve oneself: loving gives us an opportunity to empathize, to care for others more, to sacrifice our own self in most selfless way; Free spirit allows dreamers to picturize imaginations in the freest way possible, to dream, to considerate moral values and motivates us contributing to social values

-          How it helps: I was a realistic person à cynical, always doubting others, seeing the worst in every situation/person à pessimistic, negative vibes, selfish à when I learned to let go bad influence on my life and choose to live a more optimistic life, my mind broadens, I form healthy habits: reading, cycling, … I listen to others more and put myself in their shoes to understand and to form sincere connection with them 

-          Why can’t live: positive effects it had on my life, helping me adapting to new changes, fit in environment.
