Fuel Efficiency

Thomas Cook UK Airlines recognise that aviation is a contributor to climate change and are committed to reducing our impacts where we can. It is important that we use our aviation fuel efficiently in order to reduce our CO2 emissions. The airline is also implementing an Environmental Management System and has developed an environmental policy to demonstrate commitment to the environment.

We are a founding member of the Sustainable Aviation Initiative. This is an alliance of UK airlines, airports, aircraft manufacturers and air traffic management focused on achieving verifiable reductions in noise and emissions.

We run an Operational Efficiency Working Group which constantly looks at ways to improve fuel efficiency and reduce fuel burn. Projects include reducing catering weights, flight planning improvements, improved provision of information to crew and using continuous descent approaches when appropriate.

Transport

We encourage our staff to commute to work by alternative means. We are developing travel plans for our offices to ensure sustainable transport remains an area of focus.

Socio- cultural

100% of our own-brand hotels to obtain a Travelife award.

  Political

Political factors that may affect Thomas Cook plc may include civil unrest for example in Syria. This may affect Thomas Cook as their sales may decrease due to the lack of interest in visiting that country in turn giving low profits. Thomas Cook could be affected in the same way by the introduction of terrorist attacks, potentially facing a decrease in sales and even flights taking place

Our vision: to create exceptional travel experiences. As we do it, we will keep our environmental footprint to a minimum, respect cultures and people, and promote economic development in our host countries. this is good as they are reducing there carbon footprint.
 another point is to...
Optimise our holidays’ environmental, economic and social impact, by embedding sustainability into our supply chain and initiating activities that protect and restore the natural environment, biodiversity and enhance local livelihoods.

modern slavery act 2017- this is socio cultural
" We are a member of the UNWTO Child Protection Task Force, and TUI Group and RIU are Top Members of the Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism. "

by TUI having holiday destinations abroad they are employing local people instead of using people from different countries. also if they want to build a new destination they will hire a construction company to build for them. this is the multiplier effect as they are getting a different company to do this for them.
