Losar usually happens in February or March, when the new year starts in the Tibetan lunar calendar. The word "Losar" means "New Year" in Tibetan. Long ago, it started as a winter festival to burn incense and scare away bad spirits. People celebrate Losar to say goodbye to bad luck and welcome good luck and happiness for the new year. Before Losar, families clean their homes, decorate their altars, and make special food like guthuk, a noodle soup. The festival lasts for 3 to 15 days, and the first three days are the most important with prayers, family gatherings, and fun activities.

Solung is a popular festival of the Adi tribe in Arunachal Pradesh. It is usually celebrated in the first week of September after sowing the crops. People celebrate Solung to pray for a good harvest, the well-being of their animals, and to keep away evil spirits. The festival lasts for about five days and each day has a special meaning. Before the festival starts, people clean and decorate their homes. They prepare special dishes, especially using rice and meat, and also make rice beer. During Solung, people sing traditional songs, perform dances like the Ponung dance, and tell stories about their ancestors and gods. Men usually sacrifice animals as part of rituals to please the gods and protect the village. Solung is not just a religious event but also a time for families and neighbors to come together, enjoy, and strengthen their bonds.
