*It is important to remember that a draft
does not have to be perfect

*The goal of the drafting stage is to take
your outline and to develop a paper

*Drafting occurs when you put your ideas
into sentences and paragraphs. This is when you concentrate on explaining and
supporting your ideas.

*The first step of the writing process is
prewriting, also known as the planning stage. During prewriting, you are
thinking about your topic, brainstorming, focusing, and developing a working
thesis.

*Before you start writing ask yourself
questions about the topic, such as: “What do I hope to achieve?” “What personal
views do I have?” “What do I want my audience to learn?”

*The next step is to brainstorm some
potential topics

*Make a list, journal write, or create a
chart

*Finally, make sure that your topic is
focused and write down a working thesis

*To make sure a topic is focused is to
develop a rough outline

*During revision, you refine your prose,
making each sentence ass precise and accurate as possible.

*Each idea will need enough support to
convince the reader

*Check for things such as grammar and
spelling.

*The last thing you should do before
printing is to spell check.

*Don’t edit your writing until the other
steps of the writing process are complete
