the process by which sport has become a bigger business. the business side of sport is mainly split into two which is sponsorship and the media.
some of the characteristics of commercial sport, one of them is the entertainment spectator of sport which involves the media as they have to make sure that the spectator enjoys the sport and enjoy to watch it which means that the media will get more people viewing. also they need to have a high display of high performance levels to give sponsors a good choice and the better the performance level the higher the money income for the players, this then makes the sale of performers higher. due to the increase of popularity of performers becoming sport celebrates and more people wanting to view the sport the more sport has gone more global. this is called globalisation.

sport has developed more due to factors such as urbanisation which is where people more from the countryside to the city, which helps suit the sports facilities, this also kickstarted the industrialisation of cities. in my opinion this is why sport is how it is today. due to technology and factories began to create equipment out of steel and better materials. the industrial revolution also started a tradition that kick offs should start at 3 PM on a Saturday which today has slowly been removed due to the medias impact on sport.

sponsorships in sport

sponsorships are a type of funding form a business gives in return for advertising. sponsorships are used to attract more customers as they want more people to buy their products to increase profit. this associates brands with successful performers. in my opinion this is meant to make the buyer think they can be as good as the athlete wearing this product. the aim for the brand is to reinforce the products and brand name, the sponsors will pay thousands maybe even millions for an athlete to wear and 'advertise' their products.

this is when two sides relay on each other to succeed. sport has this relationship as the sport will receive funds from sponsors and will create a more funded club which they can spend on better facilities, coaches, athletes, wages, officials and more merchandises for fans to purchase. also the sponsors repay on the sport to give out the advertising needed to create a higher level of profit as due to fans such as younger children look up to athletes, as role models, they are more likely to want to wear shoes and clothes that the athletes are wearing. this helps them sell more products and to keep their business running.

the sponsor which is the person that provides funds by a business or individual in return for advertising. then there is the advertising aspect which is used too promote the product to the public to see the good and services for sale. the final stage is the endorsement which is the support of an individual or group that gives the company a face and publicity needed
such as Jessica Ennis's sponsor is adidas therefore jess Ennis wears sports clothes that are made by adidas so that her fans can see her in them and want to buy them.

it allows the athlete to have a larger area to speak to and allows them to represent them selves outside of the sport if needed. an example of this is when adidas sponsored Jessica Ennis as usually company's sponsor male athletes so when they sponsored Jessica Ennis it showed women empowerment and will inspire women to take part in sport as Jessica Ennis encourages this. sponsorship normally encouragers healthy living in sport and athletes this will impact lives massively. another huge impact in sport is the amount of money invested in sport through sponsor this helps to improve facilities and equipment. this will allow better training for the endorser/athlete to get better at sport
.

Some spencer's are an unhealth habit for example the championship league is sponsored by Heineken which is an alcoholic drink. this is a big problem as alcohol is a massive problem in our society especially in the U. younger people are beginning to drink alcohol due to their parents life style. So due to this sport that is watched by young people advertising alcohol this could also encourage under age drinking.

Manchester FC Etihad campus

Manchester city Etihad campus is the name on ever article , this is because the 200 million pounds that was invested to make this new campus. in the campus there is a stadium 16 football pitches 3 gyms and 6 swimming pools. There is a bridge which connects the campus to the stadium, the Etihad's airlines are the sponsors to the campus. the Etihad airlines took over Thomas cook in 2009 and is mainly known for their luxurious air travel. Most of the footballers in the club are very happy with this stadium, the city defender Pablo Zabaleta admitted he prefers to be at the stadium than at his own home at times.
However local residents have stated that there was too much money put into this stadium when it could have gone toward other things such as schools.

The players benefit massively due to the high quality equipment and facilities. This helps the player to improve the quality of their performance which results in the players being able to train at elite level. As there are gyms available the players are able to improve their cardio which is important within a game of football. the coaches also benefit from the stadium due to the high quality equipment. this means the coach has the equipment to train the players at the best of their ability as he will have the right amount of equipment that is needed. in my opinion the fans will also benefit from the stadium as they will have a better experience when they visit to watch a game due to a better atmosphere and more entertainment for them to experience, this is due to fans and also players and coach respecting the new grounds so that the city can still show it off and be proud. this may also increase the amount of tourists coming to the stadium as they will see the area as a respected place where people like to visit.
